[QUOTE="Japanese_Monk"][QUOTE="haris12121212"][QUOTE="the_h_bomb"][QUOTE="haris12121212"]I won't argue with you guys. But it's not like the Guy that buys a Nintendo DS doesn't know it's made by the same company that made the Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy advance. It's logic sense.

it's not the same product line though. It's a brand new product that Nintendo put out as an expirement "until the real gameboy came along". I'm guessing it's success surprised even them. The Wii and DS are brand new products, far newer than anything else in the market and that is why they are such a huge success
I understand that but read this "So its almost as if Sonys "Playstation" brand was going up against an ALL NEW PRODUCT that had little to no brand popularity."The PSP competes agains the NDS yes, but the NDS plays Gameboy Advance, and has the same franchises the Gameboy advance portable had (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Pokemon etc.). Don't tell me know that the PSP competes against something "not proven" because the NDS was bound to sell because it has the franchise games like the GBA.
Oh, you mean like the N64 was bound to sell right?
Yeah, but did the N64 have, Final Fantasy? Nope. Dragon Quest? Nope. In fact many 3rd party games that were on the Super Nintendo went to Playstation because of the reason we all know today (CD). Square (or any other dev) didn't tell Nintendo if you make a dual screen portables we will switch to another portable. You do know that many NDS almost don't use the Touch Screen innovation (New Super Mario Bros, Pokemon, etc.)
You can argue about the Nintendo brand name being the reason why the DS sold. Or you can argue about games. You cant have it both ways.
You cant say the DS only sold so well because it was a Nintendo product and it had the Nintendo brand name printed all over the box, but then go on to say that the Nintendo 64 did so BAD because it didnt have popular 3rd party games.
You're being a hypocrite right now. Both had the Nintendo brand name. One failed, one didnt. You keep telling me the DS didnt fail because the established Nintendo brand name. And then you say the 64 (established Nintendo brand name) failed because games? WHAT?!?!?!
