I was just looking for a place to say this and this is as good as any so...

Out of the choices available on Webby, Gamespot is definately the one, but I found the choice to be rather poor. None of the gaming websites I know besides gamespot have been included. Maybe I missed something but I only saw5 or so nominations....you would think that sites like gametrailers would bein that top 5. That would be a fair competition.

Well that's to be expected. I hoped someone would have some hard numbers.

Does anyone still play old FPS like Far Cry, Vietcong or Battlefield 1942 mods?

I believe the longest recorded session was about 8,5 hours in America's Army (the website tracked me).

However, for a short time I was also addicted to Lineage 2 and I might've played longer sessions there. No proof or memory of that though. You lose track of time with MMORPGs

Hey....that just popped into my mind with the power of a bullet. I see a point in nopalversion's logic. They create controversy because controversy attracts attention to the game and the game sells better. lol

I'm surprised no one named CS Source - should still be most popular.

COD 4 sounds good...and 59 euros here in Europe...

From my previous experiences with pirated gaming, I would say that the ratio varies greatly between different countries and different layers of the population. So far, across three continents, I've only met 1 person who, I can say with some certainty, has been mostly buying his games. However most of these people, although not all, are either from 2nd/3rd world countries or are "lower class" (for a lack of a better word). So, I would say that mister crytek here might just be right. Buuut I do agree that interviews like those are annoying.

I remember buying cheap PS games from a huge gaming market in Moscow as a kid. Later I realized that all of those were pirate copies - not a cent went to the devs. No wonder those small stores with really expensive games were always empty...

This topic has probably been discussed before, but I can't find any relevant results.

I am looking for an up-to-date top five/top ten most played multi-player shooters, sorted by on-line popularity.

I'm looking for tactical/realistic shooters but feel free to name any fps in general.

I'm already playing Battlefield 2 Project Reality and it's not particularly big. America's Army was my other all-time favorite but after several years I finally got bored with its maps. I stopped playing SOF2 long time ago due to the strange cheater transformtation the game had unerwent.

I've always been interested in Far Cry, mostly playing my friend's copy, but it costs 4 buks in a toy store here and it even used to be free to download for US citizens. That makes me wonder about its popularity/quality.

R6 Vegas 2 looks like it should be fun on-line but the two games both came out in such a short period of time and with such hype that I think the amount of players is greatly reduced every day.

GRAW 2. Is it more or less popular than GRAW1? Again the same problem as with Vegas 2. The one came out so quickly after the other that I think the fans are too divided between the two games.

Armed Assault? The game was completely broken last time I tried it. It was a while ago though. Also there were complaints from paying customers that they got problems from the anti-cheat/copy-protection software. However, Operation Flashpoint was and is a huge hit + the gameplay is my kind of gameplay so I would be willing to give it a try, but how many people play this? And will everyone run off to Operation Flashpoint 2 when it comes out?

And finally, is there a website that keeps this kind of list updated?

This story is actually making me more racist. How about we start affermative aciton in gaming eh? Make all the main heroes black as to not offend the status quo, eh. That'll help social unity (*sarcasm).

By the way, what about Far Cry 2? What about all the Asian people we've been killing in Vietcong?

I'm to angry to stay around here any longer.....
