No Red Star SP campaign - I'm not getting the game out of principle...and maybe the shortage of money.

Haven't read any of the 21 pages of this thing. My answer is short and simple: find a way to make games affordable for most.

Piracy will always exist, but there can be more or less of it.

I just read about Khmer Rouge - a horrible regime. I was watching videos, and then I realized: I don't ever remember killing any of these folks, even though I'd really like to.

There is this abundance of WW2 games, and recently, there was a turn towards ficitonal middle-east coaltions. It's as if the developers are running out of decent enemies. Yet I can think of so many evil regimes, organizations and situations that haven't been adressed yet, or haven't been adressed enough.

Here's a small list:

1. Khmer Rouge

2. Authorities within the Stalinist Russia (I can even see a mission to free some Russian scientists from a concentration camp)

3. Whoever's responsible for the horrors in North Korea

4. The inquisition

5. Darfur's militia Janjaweed

What's with all the fictional enemies when there are so many real ones?

The thing I find most shocking about that statistic is that only 82% of boys play games. What the hell do the rest of them do? They had better be too poor for it, because otherwise I don't think there's a word in my lexicon to describe them. In fact, I am going to go buy a dictionary and make sure there aren't any words to describe them. I don't think there are. I'm really good at imagining the other side of the coin and all that junk, but I can't imagine a life without games. It's like life without chronic masturbation It's just not life.mfsa

I literally made a contract where I agree to stop playing 90% or so of all games, because games were hurting my school like a drug addiction, and because games are empty substitutes for things in life that are really real (yes games are real too since we see and feel them, but you all know what I'm talking about), and only some games really teach you anything. Since the "contract" I learned to play two guitars, got into airsoft sport, improved on my studies, started living with my girlfriend (in a place I got), improved on my cooking, wrote more poetry, built a website for my political group, got jobs....etc, etc. How's that for a little refreshment?

As for girls and games, I never really thought why they don't like cars and guns but boys do. I guess,it's just something that's part of who they are. Surely has something to do with the purpose of men and women. I'm going to be really stereotypical here so stfu if you don't like it :P but girls are family/home oriented, while guys are action/protection/kill-the-mammoth oriented. My gf does enjoy some games, but you can guess what they are if you know anything about girls and games...yup: The Sims and Morrowind.

I just realized something by reading the "How to mess up an RPG" thread.

It is generally known that a lot of Elder Scrolls fans after finishing Oblivion went back to Morrowind, because it was more fun. I agree, Morrowind had some kind of magic that Oblivion lacked, even with all its good graphics, kinky combat and physics.

AND NOWI think I discovered the major ingredient that spoils the Oblivion formula: fast travel option. I didn't think about it at first but now I realize that 80% of all the time I spent in Morrowind, I spent getting to places. Sometimes it was annoying that I had to run for such a long time, and yet I still occupied that time with fighting monsters on my way, exploring newfound caves, completing side questsand enjoying the scenery.

In Oblivion, you have the option to instantly transport you to an already visited place. All those caves and sidequests are also present in Oblivion (to some extent)but I realized that, unless you just wonder around the map like an idiot, you will not find any of that. The result: people miss on a very large % of gameplay.

Moreover, when add-ons come out that, for example, dress your character upin a new outfit, you are onlyreally noticing the changeif you have enough time to look at it. In Morrowind you had that time. Whatever mod is coming out, you had the time to use it in game. Add-ons, as we know, is the reason why Morrowind is still so widely played. Oblivion can't even be saved by add-ons because they depend on the game's fast-traveling shortage of gameplay.

And don't tell me not to use fast-traveling option if I don't want to. It would be against logic and against human nature and is impossible.
