Let's not forget about ET

With Enemy Territory: Quake Wars going gold today, let's not forget about the original game! If you played this game enough you should expect to have a little deja vu when you hear the audio.

And if you want more, there's another one.

They're too cute for words, I had to share them. :D

24 Monitor Quake!

Check out this amazing set up focused on Quake 3 Arena. Now if only I can find a rich friend that has such a set up! Although, playing Quake with this would feel kind of funky. Thanks to cell_dweller for sending this my way.

Quakecon 2007 Highlights

The individual interviews of the ladies you had the chance to see in the E3 2007 Highlights video should be released soon. In the meantime, check out some more amazing women I had the opportunity to interview at Quakecon 2007.

I assisted Quakecon with the Quake Wars tournament this year and even though I should have taken a nap before the Quakecon Finale show (which happened to feature the Tournament finals, Bawls Chugging, Case mod winners, Guitar Hero finals, and more), I decided to ignore being sleep deprived and interview a few more ladies at the event.

This video features my favorite clips that are focused on one of my favorite gaming events. Yes, maybe I am biased when it comes to Quake but this event happens to bring back memories of my old school days every year I attend. Especially when I bump into old school players I have known for at least 10 years now. Stay tuned for these individual interviews of these ladies in the near future.

EDIT: I have had quite a few of you who want to post this video up on your blog or website. If you click on the direct video link on the right hand side, go to the BLOG IT link below the video description. There you'll find the embed code to add to your webpage. Thanks :)

Quakecon Pictures

You asked for it! There's pictures pre-Quakecon with a variety of staff (aka volunteers at the event), and pictures from the Quakecon Show that had the Tournament Finals and Awards ceremony. I took some digital camera video footage of the award ceremony and I plan to upload them later this week. I dont have a moment to add captions at this time, maybe later this week.

Back from Quakecon

I have lots to write about my experiences in my Quakecon 2007 Journey article. All I can say is that I thought I would have more time to post video blogs on youtube but the tournament I helped out with required me to be there from 8am to midnight at times. And because I was on vacation for work, I didn't want to miss out any of the nights to hang out with friends so I stayed up and didn't sleep much through out the days I was there. If you were there and I seemed to be in daze at times sorry about that! Do let me know if I need to make up for ignoring you though. :P

I was there to volunteer with the tournament like other years before but I was also there to hang out with my gamer friends. I did end up meeting some new ones in the process. The Quake Wars tournament was tons of fun, and to see people know a beta so well was amazing to see. I am beat, just flew back home a few hours ago and I need to get used to the California timezone again. Sorry if I am behind on my private messages but I'll check them tomorrow when I get a chance. :)

Women in Gaming - Teaser

Remember when I kept talking about a project I was working on when I wasn't helping with the live broadcast during E3? The secret is out! (even on the front E3 page). I kept sneaking off stage to interview women who were at E3 this year. These women were able to get into the doors even though E3 was invite only.

Below you'll find some of my favorite clips that are related to E3. Stay tuned for individual interviews in the near future!

Brief E3 Impressions

I have to say this year was better than the years I have attended. Aaron Thomas asked me on the spot (no pun intended) in his video blog he made but to be honest it was a little more than 4 years. I went to E399 and E32000 for Mplayer, E3 2001 for GameSpy, E32005 for GameShark, E32006 for GameSpot and this year for GameSpot!

Majority of the games I saw were at our location at the Santa Monica Pier this year. It was obviously weird not being able to just stop by a booth and pick up a controller to play. I think the E for All event may help on that end but I did miss stumbling upon interesting games through that way.

The games that stood out include;

- Call of Duty 4 was the main game that really impressed me when I watched the MS press conference. It left me wanting to know what was going to happen and how I could attack. I am sure you just lay low but there were vehicles up ahead so how do you remain down like that if you have the possibility of being ran over?

- Assassin's Creed looked really good. I didn't know much about the whole bird thing until the stage demo but it just keeps getting better and better each time I see it.

- Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 was a game that had me laughing out loud. Especially during the rock band mini game for smoke on the water. I liked what I saw, and wanted to ask someone to take my place to ask questions so I could get on the stage and play! Can't wait for this one. Although since I have only played this game on the 360 I think I need to try the game on the Wii version.

- Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was a game that I really liked because it was about blowing things up. It reminded me of all of the times I would get my commando and demolish buildings in Command and Conquer. I gotta a present for you! *boom* The constructions blew up really nice too.

- Blacksite: Area 51 demo stage was neat when they were in the helicopter. I liked how the helicopter was everywhere so it added more of the realism to it.

- Stranglehold actually surprised me. I had heard people mention the game name before but had no clue what it was about. For some reason I related it to a role-playing game and not the Chow Yun Fat movie.

- Unreal Tournament 3 looked really impressive. I liked seeing the vehicles I saw, and it reminded me more like the Gears of War style. I am not certain what to call that style of graphics but it works great for the GoW. I hope it works good for UT3. When I heard that the spider mines were going to be in the game it brought a smile to my face. heh, you gotta love aiming those little guys at someone and seeing them try to get away.

- Heavenly Sword was a game I saw at E3 last year and it seems to look better and better the more I see the gameplay. I love these type of fighting style games with a storyline.

- Fatal Inertia sort of reminded me of F-Zero only you could do a lot more. I like these types of games so I definitely want to give this game a try once it's out.

- Little Big Planet was actually a game I wasn't around to see since I wasn't at the Santa Monica pier at the time but I heard so
much about it from different people at the event so I checked into it when I got back from E3 last night. It looks like a really interesting game.

- Hellgate: London was a game that intrigued me. It was more about the concept than anything. I didn't have any hands-on and couldn't see the gameplay too well but the whole idea of what the spokesman (really cute guy btw!) mentioned made me want to give it a try.

- Rock Band looked good too but since I dont sing songs that are considered rock I dont know how well I'd do with the singing portion.

And of course I am still looking forward to TF2 and ETQW! Long love.. I mean long live Quake! I don't believe I have ever had this many games I am looking forward to. I think game companies are staying on top of their game more than before. It's great to see so many awesome games coming out in the next year or two! I just need more time and money to play all of them.

I met so many great people on my little project I was working on. I can't wait to share those moments in my E3 2007 journey.

What CaliGirl needs for her trip

Yesterday I recorded a video blog about what I need for gaming events in general.

Today I spent hours on the trip down to Santa Monica, stopped by the pier and then got back to the hotel a couple of hours ago. I did experience the Del Taco tradition stop on the trip down to southern California as well! It was one awesome spicy jack cheese quesadilla. :) Anyways, I am still working on this project right now but I'll do my best to post anything interesting when I can.

Thanks for all of your warm and hate wishes although I am very behind on my private messages so if you need help with GameSpot.com, please take the correct routes (customer support,or technical support). And make sure you enjoy the E3 coverage. It would probably be a good idea to makehttp://e3.gamespot.com/your web browser for this week so you don't miss a beat!

Humiliation Trend Starter!

MasterEmil has posted a video about how bad he is at Gears of War. I can only hear him saying how bad he was so I can only imagine that I was still worse than him when I first tried that game. Now if only he had my little trick on recording how bad he was. No, I'm still not sharing how I did that. Who would have thought my first trend starter (or isn't that a trend setter?) would be about being so bad at a video game. I hope that doesnt misrepresent any lady gamers. Sorry ladies! :(

I am just now getting nervous about E3. And when I say 'just now' I mean it in the American term of right now, and not in the South African way of in the near future. *ahem Gavin* :P
