@videogameninja: Solid list. I agree with this more than IGN's take. Code Veronica was awesome, but definitely could use a remake/remaster, more so than 4 that's for sure. I just can't handle the old school tank controls anymore.

@pillarrocks: RE7 is best played in VR if you have the option. It's my personal favorite AAA VR game and also the scariest.

@vamonosraza: I disagree that it doesn't feel like RE unless you mean the story, which I can totally understand. That aspect is certainly different. But from a gameplay standpoint, RE7 is very similar to RE1. You're trapped in a large house with a focus on exploration, haunting atmosphere, locating keys to get to new areas, and solving the occasional environmental puzzle. Enemies are infrequent, but daunting, ammo is scarce, limited inventory space. I think it feels much more like an OG Resident Evil game than any other entry in the last 20 years.

@asnakeneverdies: sorry i just don't understand your list. RE7 is easily one of the top 3 in the series, especially when played in VR. It's essentially the gameplay loop of RE1 but in first person and with competent combat and traversal (and WAY scarier, the VR version is absolutely terrifying). No traditional zombies but what it does have is so much scarier. Zombies in RE1-3 are incredibly boring and predictable. They just walk slowly towards you and that's it. At least L4D and Dying Light made it interesting by making them fast.

@vamonosraza: It's a fantastic game. @naryanrobinson nailed everything I would have said, especially those first 2 paragraphs. I absolutely adore the Oculus Quest 2 version. If you can, play that version but the PS4/Xbox One version is fine too. Alternatively, there is a remake in the works but it probably a couple years off, as they reportedly halted production to focus on other projects.

It's worth noting that the biggest problem I have with the PS/Xbox ports is that the controls are set up strangely. Originally, were some control compromises made to accommodate the original gamecube version (GC controllers have 4 less buttons than other controllers) and they translate strangely to modern controllers but it's not a dealbreaker by any means. Just odd.

@ember_to_flame: Plagas, T-virus, same thing different name and only marginally different behavior. They act more like traditional zombies than, say, Left 4 Dead or State of Decay. And you can ask anyone with an Oculus Quest 2 that RE4 is one of the best AAA VR games available (on Oculus or Steam). Even people who were burnt out on RE4 being ported to everything under the sun found new reasons to love it all over again. They did a phenomenal job porting a "flat" game to VR without compromising anything. It's arguable a massive improvement over the original. You seem like you have unreasonably high standards for video games. Sucks to not be able to just simply enjoy things.

@vamonosraza: How is 7 not a RE game? It's basically the gameplay loop from 1 but in 1st person which is waaaaay scarier, especially in VR it's absolutely terrifying.

@asnakeneverdies: Putting 4 last is nonsensical.
