From a consumer mind point, you really have to wonder if that's such a smart move from Microsoft. Japanese people aren't cheap. They haven't been holding out on buying a X360 because "it's too expensive". If anything, price cutting the console is going to put a negative image on the system. *Japanese consumer walking pass an X360 with recent price cut* - "LoL. Are they still selling these things? Oh look another price cut. Those Americans must be so desperate to sell these things here that they're willing to basically give it away."
People keep complaining that the improvements aren't huge. But those same people already have a PSP. Maybe they're jealous that those who don't have a PSP and plan to buy one, will have a better PSP then them? Sony is constantly improving upon the original PSP. Is that just a negative thing?
These comparisons seem kinda lame. The only difference I can see is that PS3 games look lighter. But if you know how to set the colour on your TV, is there even a difference? Plus Nvidia has always rendered differently to Ati. So what's new?
I actually like this card and I'm usually cheering for the green team. But I always place bang for buck above any biased/fanboy opinion. In Australia right now you can get this card for the same price as a 640MB 8800GTS, which is pretty damn good. Once ATI optimize their drivers I'm sure it can beat the 8800GTS across the board. As of now it's a toss up between the two cards, with one or the other winning based on the game and setting tested at, and anyone who says otherwise is full of it. I've yet been to a site where the benchmarks show the 2900XT dominating the 8800GTS. Question is, would I buy this card? I'm not sure. Simply because of two things; it runs very hot about 70+ degrees Celsius and is IMO loud, the thing emits sound level of 53dB (I'm a silent PC freak by the way). P.S It been nearly half a year since the release of the 8800 series....(repeat)....
SirWrinkles BE glad that they're showing the results based on the Beta drivers, because if they had been using the certified WHQL drivers the benchmarks would have been a little "lacking" in performance.
