Hey all, this is my first post with this Union, and I must say this is a great union!

I am an RTS fan mostly, throw in a little FPS every now and then, and a touch of Fallout and that's me. If there's no thinking, just clicking, I don't want any part in it. You might as why I like FPS then, well there are two answers. The fist is simple, I'm an adrenaline junkie, and a guy, so I like watching things blow up ;). The second is that I prefer more open FPSs like Fallout 3 and the Stalker games, where there IS thought involved (and things blowing up!).

Looking forward to taking part in this union!

I just got my preorder of Beyond Protocol. They say on the box that it will play on the Mac when it runs an emulator. They have a free trial so its probably easy to check out and make sure before you make your purchase.

If it's wildly unfounded, yeah it'd be nice! :P

ok, let me give this a shot: when i saw the demo for fallout 3, it didn't capture my interest at all and looked really boring; however, when i saw the trailer for dead space, it looked really, really interesting and a lot of fun to play. and hence, imo, dead space looks a gazillion times more interesting and fun than fallout 3.

There we go, now I know where you went WRONG in your thought process! Heh, just kidding, everyone's entitled to their opinions!

Not to take any offense to Fallout players,
but Fallout 3 doesn't look interesting at all to me
as a Sci-Fi gamer.

Dead Space is way more geeky science fiction wise,
and the horror concept just interests me even more.

Well, that's kindof the point. F3 isn't really about being all serious and geeky, it's about being hilariously dark and geeky. There's a huge difference, and for those who haven't been very involved in the series to date, I think it's a hard distinction to make. One quote from the original that sticks with me, just about everytime I go to work on my car is, the description for the game item, large pipe wrench is something like "A mechanic uses a tool like this, to hurt people..." There may not be much geek in there, but it's the humor I'm pointing at.

Ok, I might just need to become a fanboi for this particular game :P this thing is awesome!

I was talking to some members of a few different guilds and apparently there's a massive war going on between three or four guilds. Apparently it spans several solar systems. Makes me think of the faction wars in EVE, but bigger.

There is something that bothers me though, for some reason the forums for this game on GameSpot got locked. I can see em if I go to GameFaqs.com but not here... Anyone know what that's about? There was a thread with one of the game's reps answering questions, and I was hoping to ask a few things...

Heh, care to back that up? Or was it intentionally a third grade response? ;)

i'm supposed to back up my opinion?

and you can travel between all of them in real time.

Wait so it will take like 100 light years to get to another system? Man, this game sounds like it will take awhile! :)

Cereo1

lol, I guess that's not what I meant... However, it can take an actual month (or months) to go between two solar systems unless you know a less conventional way to get there... ;)

That's right I said MMORTS. Beyond Protocol (BP) has been mentioned a few times around here, but now it's gone open beta, so I'd like to see if anyone's playing it and what they think.

I love it. Custimize all your own stuff, like tanks, fighters, battlecrusiers, weapons, shields and on and on.

Plus it's huge, each planet is like an RTS map, but there's about 15 planets to a solar system and about 30 solar systems in the beta now, and you can travel between all of them in real time.

Then there's guilds, custom ranks and voting weights and shared units... So much is possible...

Ok, enough from me, what does everyone else think?

Fallout 3 will be a huge mix between FPS and RPG, with VATS, and regular combat both being decent options, plus it will be an open world with many possible outcomes. All I've found so far on Dead Space is an interesting story line. The fact that EA's behind it makes me cringe...

***Opinion Warning: If you don't agree... I don't care!***

I'm certainly looking forward to it, however, I have doubts it'll be better than 1 and 2 in their respective time periods. I think F3 will be the best RPG/FPS of the year, but F1&2 were the best RPG's for several years. I'm hoping I'm wrong and F3 turns out to be the most awesome thing ever, but I'll just wait and see...

Love MechWarrior, I was sad when they released mechassault for xbox, and not pc... I'm really hoping another one comes out soon. Of course I'd love another Mech Commander (the RTS version) as well, those games rocked even though I felt like it was 1990 when I played them...
