I think it's funny how a thread with piracy in the title has a mod posting just about every other post ;)

I'll also throw in Mickey Mouse and good ol' Disney, for extending the life of a copywrite, so that none of these games will ever be public domain in most of our lifetimes!

"But this is HD TV it has better resolution than the real world!"

2 points if you get the reference!

Honestly, eventually I think we'll be moving toward more invasive means to play games. The matrix might be some time down the road, but eventually I think we will be playing games with graphics better than our eyes are capable of detecting. I just wonder if they're going to start encorperating our other senses more fully soon.

It's not necessarily the best, just one I can remember, COD4, one of the characters you play as...

That caught me off guard and almost made it a personal vendetta for me. I thought that was a nice touch.

Yeah, to get back on topic, I'm really hoping the accountants will start noticing this, especially with how things played out for spore. DRM just makes things harder, and in my opinion, actually increases piracy. And as the man said, most major games are widely available for download DRM free regardless of what protection is on there to begin with, so there's little to no point!

LOL, Shame-us! I love that the reviewer is at the bottom of your list, lower than the anonymous forum poster :)

Grieverr

Yeah, I tend to agree. For the most part, a large part of the gaming industry is controled by money, not honest opinion. If they know the game is going to make money, or make them money, most commercial reviewers are going to give it a great review, regardless of how or why money is made. That's why I tend to adhere to Shame-'s policy as well.

Fallout 3, Gears of War 2 or some other overhyped, uber-marketed console garbage (PC games aren't cool enough, arcade games don't exist, handheld games aren't real games). GOTY awards basically are marketing tricks created to increase traffic on gaming sites and to tell you what you're supposed to like.ReddestSkies

Wow, someone's got a terrible case of nihilist... Anyways, while I don't share the above opinion (although yes, awards of ANY kind done in public ARE marketing tricks) I think it's too early to say. I'm certainly hoping Fallout 3 will be great, kinda hoping to see an original performance from Gears of War 2, and I keep hearing interesting things about this Beyond Protocol, all of which hope to make it before 2008 is up. So too early to say!

It seems a lot of people don't seem to understand that games cost a lot more money to make now than they did ten years ago *and* they are cheaper by comparison. I guess I only realize that because I was gaming over a decade ago.

Developers spend lots of money and time making games, don't you think it is a good idea to compensate them for their hard work? You think they are just doing this for you and you should get to pay what you want? Lots of these people survive on the money they make by working for these developers and since publishers eat up so much of the profit, most developer grunts make only average wages.

THAT is why we should be complaining more about EA than the price of their games. The publishers are a completely unecessary step in all this, kinda like health insurance companies in the US. They are the ones making it harder for decent games to get released, while eating up a good share of the profit. I was gaming over a decade ago as well, and yes while sales prices may not have changed much, the market is MUCH larger and I have to beleive that production is not terribly different scale wise, but like I said, what has changed are these publishing companies...

Certainly no concern here. I do like the level scalling and the fact that if you wanted to beat the game in an hour you could, or if you want to get your money's worth, you could play it for 5 days straight (Like the first two). Hmmm, if they could find a way to make MMO's do this, it might just make people realize how wrong botting is!

All I know is I'm more likely to believe a low review than a high one. We all know the game companies have their dealings with the major media sites, so to say negative things about it probably means there is no financial support and thus the reviewers are giving a somewhat honest opinion. That or they're be paid to say bad things by someone else... It is a vicious cycle...

This is really weird because I wouldn't actually oppose it. Google over EA any day.RK-Mara

Well even knowing it's false, yeah I'd rather it was google than EA, seems like everything computers is going to one or the other ( Tremendous overstatement, but just imagine overtime if unchecked, the Googlers and EA Zombies, they could spawn actual wars!).
