My pick of those would be Heroes of Ruin, but if your not really interested in the multiplayer than give it a pass, atleast until the price drops. So, I would recommend Tales of the Abyss. The game is 70 hours freakin long. It has a great story and only got 7/10 reviews because it is a port of a old PS2 game, otherwise it is a solid 8 to 9/10. Also, I didnt noticed that you have played MK7. If not get it. Sure you cant play the online untill you get back from vacation, but that will give you time to play through all 3 cc's of singleplayer to unlock everything and get a 3-star rating. I have over 100 hours of play just on that game. Hope this helps...

So I have put music on my 3DS two ways

  1. Downloaded an album of songs off Amazon
  2. Downloaded a few songs off random internet sites

Both of the songs mentioned above play fine on my computer. However, only the ones I bought off of Amazon work on my 3DS. The ones off of internet sites do not work on the 3DS. They show up listed as songs, but it says "Can not play". I have tried moving them around on the SD card (In DCIM and not) and I always get the same result. And like I said earlier ALL of the songs work fine on the computer. WTF? This is driving me crazy. Anyone else ever have this problem? PLEASE HELP!

Nevermind Jolly. I figured it out. You really get some cool bonuses if you play in an alliance all the time online. Pretty neat addition.

Thanks for all of the comments and tips everyone!

fami - after a little more research and review reading, I'm leaning towards your DSi recommendation.

dsrules - didn't even think about the XL possibly being too big. Great point and we'll make sure to test the DSi and DSiXL in the store to see how she can control them.

Wasn't aware of the 3D issues for kids under 6 so thanks for those warnings as well! I personally don't like 3D and see it being a fad unless they find a way to greatly widen the sweet spot and prevent eye strain as well but we'll see. While money isn't an object, it'll still be much easier to replace a broken $99 or $129 item than it is a $169-199 item.

It looks like they're still coming out with new regular DS games, correct? I'm sure that'll end at some point in the future but by then it'll be time for a new system I suppose.

Like another poster said, you should probably get the DS Lite and not the DSi, unless you really see your 6 year old using the internet (very limited use on the DS systems anyways) or the camera. The DS Lite is built better and is cheaper. And yeah, they still are making DS games. Pokemon Conquest just came out for the DS, and Pokemon Black/White 2 arent even released yet in the US for the DS. Plus, there are a TON of games in the DS library. Some even consider it the best system, including consoles, in the last generation due to its amazing library of games.

Thanks for the heads up, LJ! I've been visiting the official website since last year, but I lost access to original account a few weeks ago. So I'm glad that it seems like they finally solved the problem. I logged on a few days ago and linked everything up, so I'm good to go!

I like how it keeps track of stats that you don't normally see in the game, and now I kind of understand why they set the gold limit so low.

My user name is JollyGreenOne over there if you want to check out my stats.

[QUOTE="El_Zo1212o"]Have you been getting your daily challenges via spotpass, or by playing with randoms online? Playing with people who are linked is how I've been getting my dailies.JollyGreenOne

I've been getting mine through SpotPass, I normally jump into solo mode before going online and the newest daily challenges are already there.

How does the alliance rank work? I know you get some kind of bonuses when you play with the same player repeatedly, but how exactly does it work?

LJChronx

From what I can tell the alliance grows based on how long you've played with a friend and how well you cooperate with each other. Like say; if you stay close to your friend and use skills that boost their stats your alliance meter should grow faster than if you decided to split off from each other.

What benifits do you get when your alliance meter grows?

I would rather a sequel to Link to the Past. Im not one of the huge MM fanboy's(And I know there are alot of you), and Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda. I would even like a Link to the Past remake if the VASTLY expanded the world. I would want every area to be 3 or 4 times its original size. So I guess it would be part remake and part new game.

[QUOTE="Sora278"]

[QUOTE="Toxic-Seahorse"] A bigger screen is a plus and a negative at the same time. Yeah it's bigger, but the resolution is the same, so games are going to look slightly worse.Toxic-Seahorse

No they've said repeatedly that they will look exactly the same just bigger.

Too bad that's impossible. It's the same resolution, everything will be stretched to fit the screen. Not by much though, most times it probably won't be noticeable.

Yeah, from the reviews, the jaggies are a little bit more noticable. And supposedly the 3D actually looks a little bit worse, despite the bigger "sweet spot"

I'd like to see more (and better) games along the lines of Heroes of Ruin.

logicalfrank

I want to see ALL future 3DS online games to implement the features that Heroes of Ruin used. Whether you love or hate Heroes of Ruin, it was great that the game was released. It shows what the system can and SHOULD do.

Localized RPGs... ^__________^

I'd like more strategy games mostly though. Turn based or otherwise. Civilization would be great on the 3DS, as would other RTS titles. It baffles me as to why the strategy genre was largley ignored on the DS.

nintendofreak_2

Your absolutely right! I have always been amazed that there werent more efforts to put games like Civilization, X-Com, and RTS game on the DS or now the 3DS. The console is perfect for them. Same thing with the point and click adventures. I know there were a few of them on the DS, but the console would be a great place for them to release collections of old classics. Imagine Kings Quest, Monkey Island, Sam & Max, The Dig, Full Throttle, Hand of Fate on the 3DS. I realize that they are releasing Myst on the 3DS (or maybe its already out). But come on, the original Myst is almost 20 years old and they are adding nothing new to it and selling it for $40. You should get a whole collection of these games for $40. Heck, they could release them on the e-shop for $5 each and I would pay it. I think they are really missing the boat on this one.
