[QUOTE="ghoklebutter"][QUOTE="LOXO7"][QUOTE="ghoklebutter"] You missed his point completely. He wasn't talking about whether that's a religious belief. He was just saying that abortion is not the same as contraception. Learn to read.

Well then you miss my point completely as well. He said nothing about religion in his point? Good for him. My point is, that it is. That her belief that she should be forced to have a contraceptive pill because she was raped is in tune with an atheist (religion) belief. Learn to be open.

She was not advocating being forced to have a pill in case of rape. She wanted to use it herself.

Aren't actions advocating?

[QUOTE="LOXO7"][QUOTE="Ravensmash"] I know this case doesn't concern abortion, but it has been mentioned. Christianity, Judaism and Islam all permit abortion (and I presume emergency contraception under circumstance). Please stop going on about atheists.toast_burner

I am just enlightening everyone that atheism is indeed a religion and that their views shouldn't be forced on everyone else, including the jail guard.

But Christianity should be forced onto other people?

We are at a standstill. We need government intervention.

Cute. Do you get it? The joke that they say sperm instead of fetus, conception, life. Big difference there.

[QUOTE="LOXO7"][QUOTE="toast_burner"]But she wasn't forcing her beliefs on anyone. She had bee prescribed a pill to use for herself. She wasn't forcing the guard to take it.

toast_burner

Could I say the prisoner was forcing the guard to go against the guards beliefs?

She wasn't forced, she choose the job. If she doesn't want to do it she can either quit or be fired.

Everyone is saying she was wrong to withdraw the pill. I am saying, the prisoner is wrong for them to force her the access to the pill.

We're talking about contraceptives. Many if not most Christians use contraceptives, so what makes you think she's an atheist? And even if she is how is it relevent?

Ravensmash
I have the same belief as the jail guard. "Illegal! Illegal! You have bad beliefs and you should feel bad." This is what I am seeing. And maybe they are poor Christians? So should I also follow along? She could be an atheist. I don't really know. She has a view atheists share. Do I care? Yes because it's a religion and people don't seem to think that it's a religion. So in saying, "The guard is wrong for forcing his (its a her) religious views on her" it can be flipped as the opposite.

[QUOTE="LOXO7"][QUOTE="toast_burner"]What do you mean? This isn't an abortion, abortion doesn't come into it. ghoklebutter
This isn't a religious belief at all? You and most here say the guard forced her religious beliefs on the prisoner. Why isn't the other way around? That the prisoner forced her own religious beliefs on the guard? Atheism is a religion and it's forced on people in public daily.

Atheism isn't a religion and how do you even know she's an atheist?

The prisioner needed the contraception because she had just been raped.

Because religious people make ridiculous claims to others not in their religion.

You think that women who are raped should be forced to carry their child to full term, despite contraception being available that prevents a pregnancy occuring? You think women should be forced by others to carry children they don't want (through circumstance) or for medical reasons? I don't approve of abortion being used as a casual form of birth control, but this is an emergency contraceptive..... :|

There is nothing about the man or men who raped her. Where they caught? What was their punishment? Would knowing these questions ease your tension? It would mine. Rape is wrong. The punishment should be equal to homicide.
