@DawnBlue @MechaDragon86 You're forgetting that there are laws in place for intellectual property. So in the case you state, if the Architect/Carpenter have a design for the home then you have the legal right to sue for the unauthorized use of that property. So until the laws change it is stealing. Now I think these copyright laws are old and outdated and need to be brought into the modern era. Most of them are just built upon ones that were set 75-100 years ago, well before the digital age. I think the game and movie industry need to look at the model that iTunes has set up, it wouldn't work exactly the same for games and movies but there is something there. iTunes has done a lot for anti-music piracy.
@NTM23 They make that exact point in the show but they gloss over it. In fact they say more than once but no one picks up on it because it wouldn't helpt their discussion. Here's what we know: anything can be a trigger for an unstable person, be it books (bible), movies, music, games, it doesn't matter. For the majority of us it's fine but for these few it's not. We can't start creating a society that caters to the few, if so we'll all end up living in padded cells taking medication "IN CASE" one of us has an episode. We have to parent our children, educate the public and support at risk individuals to limit bad things from happening.
@The_Beanster @censoredlogin I totally agree but I do like me some excellent CGI. Remember the first trailers for Batman: Arkham Asylum? Those were so good it was hard to tell at times if it was live action or not. CGI trailers are good at building hype but I hate when they show game mechanics that never appear in the game. The Dragon Age trailers were like that among many others.
@tim1935 I wasn't very confident in that campaign from the start. I hope, along with others posting here that Sega managed to grap the IP and let Relic back at it. Aside from former Relic devs I'd only like to see well established RTS devs work on it.
@XCyberForceX My kids haven't gotten to the age where they realize that I know more than them and that I'm in control of these types of settings. They're just happy to have some screen time, be it mobile, console or desktop. I'm worried about staying on top of them when they get into high school. Balancing their use of social media and my need as a parent to know what's going on. This is another area that we as parents need to take an active role in. Teaching our kids what's appropriate to post online, how to manage your social profile, how to react to different social issues (bullying etc). It's really very different from when I was a kid/teenager. Heck my kids are always touching screens thinking that everything is a multi-touch display. It can be pretty funny at times.
@XCyberForceX I agree with you wholeheartedly yet there is one flaw to your statement: the reliance on parents to do their jobs. This to me, is the one big fail our current generation is facing. For some reason there is a large percentage of parents that don't put the proper time into their children. Too many use video games/movies etc. as babysitters even when they don't need to. Part of the reason is the generation gap where the parents are not gamers and don't understand the medium. So they don't spend enough time with their kids and they supplement that time with an inappropriate medium.
