Excellent review. Thanks for giving me the background on this game. I'm definitely interested in it now. This will be on my list to watch for some future sale for the PC version. (I have too large of a backlog to buy too many new games at full price.)
I saw the film last week and it wasn't bad. Not great, but enjoyable.
I think what's killing films in today's environment is competition, too many films release each week and ticket costs. (I get around this with the AMC Stubs program.)
Lastly how can a film that cost $138 million to make, require $100 million in marketing costs!? Sheesh, they could have made another film for that cost. Honestly, make two at $50 million each.
First, liked it, a lot! Secondly I do hope the next film really explores dinosaurs loose in the world as this short film and especially the credit scenes showed.
I see that come Spring 2020 I will need to disconnect from humanity and just focus on this game for the rest of this coming year. Looks epic. Oh please be good, please, please...
@bluzima: Definitely agree, it was for building hype. I admit I was so curious with the caveman start that I wanted that to move on quicker to the gameplay...
Thanks for the background on their other strategy games! That I did not realize. Actually I see I have some of their games tagged on my wishlists as they look like something I'd like. Okay then, I feel a bit more comfortable in what they are attempting here. They definitely have some great experience in their corner.
On your point about Civilization reigning supreme for too long... My brother pointed out that this could be another example of where someone comes along and as you wrote, steals the crown, as the Planet Coaster folks did with Rollercoaster Tycoon, or Cities: Skylines trumping SimCity. (In our opinion of course.)
So I'll definitely be flagging this game to follow. My hopes are high for a great game. Thanks!
Hmm, the start of the trailer was interesting, but for 2/3 it went on too long. The final bits finally showed game play and while I love Civilization, their footage almost looked too much like Civ for my tastes. I know this will come later, but I would have loved to see something that showed how it's different from Civ. Show different tech or units?
I do realize the article does mention "you can mix them to more than a million combinations" for the cultures. So that is different. But the trailer didn't show me aspects of that. Again, I get it, it's just an announcement...
Well, I do like Civ style of games, but you gotta really separate yourself from the grand daddy of strategy games. That's what I'll be looking for. Good luck.
@br0kenrabbit: I now need to get back to my KSP session and get out of the Kerbin local system (just landed on the two moons) and actually get to a planet. Duna first I guess... That way I'll be set mentally for KSP 2 and the Interstellar travel.
News is leaking out on this new game. Multiplayer, interstellar vessels, ability to build more complex bases, etc...! I'm so excited for this!
Good idea pre-apologizing to your mom. Get all your bases covered. You have a new space program to run in 2020. ;-)
Gamespot, call the crew together and reorganize. More efforts into following all KSP 2 news! Nothing must slip by you all. We need developer interviews, we need to know the details of the game, screenshots and videos of course. Until further notice, KSP 2 is your focus. After it releases you can release the folks back to following Hollywood news, game Easter eggs, etc...
Yes, I'm very excited for this game. Could you tell?
