Selective breeding is definitely going to come first. Thats pretty much Entry level genetics right there. Its already happening today. For a couple hundred bucks you can map out the genes of you and your potential partner, to see what your babies are going to be. You can already find out what diseases you are resistant to, what medical problems you will have in the future, and your entire genetic history as far back as god knows when.
@Fembot_Eulogy @Rippletonz We talking about sleep? REM Sleep only happens in 30 minute intervals. Its entirely possible to get your full sleep in 30 minutes, it just requires conditioning. I think they did a study where they had a person go to sleep 30 minutes of every hour, for about a week, and his brain just basically adjusted to it, and hed baiscally go into full Rem sleep within that 30 minute window, making him fully rested when he woke up. Human body is already amazing, without gene therapy.
@muchakachaka @Timaetaj @icebox53 We are nowhere near being overpopulated. This planet used to house over 100 million individual species not counting insects. We are at a very very small fraction of that today.
@gralvader I dont think so. I think external cybernetics will come first, then gene therapy, and then implants. Implants are very dangerous, and hard to do even today. The body is built to reject anything foreign. Gene therapy isnt foreign, so there would never really be the worry of the body rejecting it.
