I have a Wii, but this thread isn't about the Wii.

I've been thinking about getting a PS2 for some time now. My lineup of consoles went like this NES->SNES->Dreamcast->XBOX->Wii, so I've never really experienced much of the PS2. Right now, I'd buy the PS2 just for old-school games like Chrono Cross, Star Ocean series, and Xenosaga (just because XBOX SUCKED in terms of RPGs)

Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm very satisfied with my Wii, but the thought of a 75+ hour RPG is extremely tempting (plus, the cost for PS2 stuff is close to zero)

4 - Super Paper Mario (pre-ordered)

 5 - SSX:Blur

6 - Madden NFL (I'm not even a sports-game player and I LOVED this!)

Anyone notice how about 1/2 of the games on the Wii are "explainations" of the Wii-mote tied into a video game. Take Sonic an the Secret Rings, or Cooking Mama, for example (there are many others; believe me). When I sit down and play these games, I can't help but feel that the game is trying to educate me on how to use the stinkin' remote instead of allowing me to play my game. I'm not talking about the huge amount of tutorials (there are lots of those, too). I'm talking about the game itself.

Anyone else feel this way? Don't get me wrong: I love my Wii to death, and games like Zelda:TP and SSX turn this issue into a tiny annoyance instead of an actual problem.

Manhunt 2: Yes. Hacking someone's head off with an invisible machete with my Wii-mote? Sign me up.

PoP: Played the (original) XBOX version. I just don't see enough innovation in the controls to make me want to play it again. I would TOTALLY recommend someone who hasn't played PoP:TwoThrones to get the Pop:Whatever on the Wii, however.

Already did, and I already am liking what I see.

The controls are going to make it or break it, unfortunately, just like every other Wii game.

Well every game the controls can make it or break it. If the game has bad controls that render it unplayable then of course it will break it.

Well, obviously, but even more so with the Wii. Some games have minor control glitches that are excusable if the game itself is good (on a normal analog controller), but on the Wii, you need to have flawless control. Otherwise, the player (me) just gets really frustrated by the motion controls.

Preordered it. Lots of people in my town have Wiis, so most big-name new releases are gone if you don't preorder.

People say that the Wii is for kids. Well, Manhunt 2, RE4, No MOre Heroes, etc. will definitely prove them wrong. And Zelda:TP is amazing no matter what age you are.

Technically speaking, it's the 360 and the PS3 that "are for kids".

Remember sitting in your living room with hands cramping up from that boxy NES controller,TRYING to beat Super Mario Bros. with a friend? I do. Who made that? Nintendo. Remember playing Gears of War and feeling like you were totally hardcore because you were a 13 year old playing an M-rated game? Yeah, that was last month. Kids...

360 and PS3 are sweet, but they're bitter that they can't bring back the nostalgia and awesome-ness of Nintendo's Big Three (NES, SNES, N64). The Wii is doing that with flying colors. So, Sony and Microsoft have to resort to a hardware war in order to compete, whereas Nintendo just sits back and laughs.

One trend that does worry me however is the recent quick cheap ports from 3rd partys (csliney

"Sweeet! I just got my XBOX360! And look! There's a NEW FarCry game!"

*dissapointment*

"Sweeeet! I just got my Wii! And look! There's a NEW FarCr...."
