Rent it, then decide. Personally, I thought it was crap, but I had lofty (and unrealistic) expectations from Sonic Adventures 2.

The 360 is awesome, don't get me wrong, but there is....something about the Wii that makes it so special.

It's kind of like the PF Flyers in Sandlot. Once he put those shoes on, he really COULD run and jump better. The Wii is the same way: once you own one and you put that remote in your hand, it really IS as good as everyone says it is.

 And - of course - it's not the system itself that makes it fun. The GAMES are what matter. Sure, I like running around in Gears with the chainsaw, cutting up Locust...but nothing quite compares to a sucessful back slice in Zelda:TP.

 Buy a Wii. Your children's children will forever hail your name.

[QUOTE="Maelkav"]

I played this game, being (notice the past tense) a huge Sonic fan. I had the DC when it came out; still have it. I played Sonic Adventures 1 and 2, all of the Genesis Sonics, and I was VERY disappointed by this game. It reminded me of a suped-up version of that Emerald bonus level in Sonic 2 where you go back and forth in that tube and collect 50 rings to get the Chaos emerald. Laaame. And I need a powerup to make my remote MORE responsive? Laaaame.

Don't even get me started on the "Arabian Nights" theme. Mario can pull off the zany storylines (Paper Mario series), but Sonic - obviously - cannot.

I was about to bring up the chaos emerald levels in sonic 2 until I read your post :lol: was great stuff back then on the mega drive though.

Yeah, no joke. It was amazing! But I'd much rather go back and play Sonic 2 on the Genesis than be TRICKED into playing a "new" Sonic on the Wii. SonicTeam...why dost thou betray thine first love?

Anyone ever play Jet Grind Radio or Viewtiful Joe?

 Other than the fact that this game is OBVIOUSLY Mario-based, I love the cartoony graphics. And a solid sidescroller for the Wii? I'd buy this game if it was simply a straight port of Super Mario Bros. with better graphics. Everything else is gravy.

Hard to say. If Corruption becomes a hit, it will bode VERY well for FPS on the Wii, since 3rd-party devs will see that FPS really CAN work on Nintendo's little revolution...*ahem* Another thing is that any "killer" would probably need some sweet online capabilities.

 My guess is Resident Evil, No More Heroes, or Manhunt 2 - all "adult" games, but that's what the Wii needs. Of course, if N made a full-fledged Pokemon adventure (in the style of the gameboy ones, not the "Colloseum" games), then children and children-at-heart all around the world would rejoice.

Ah, but Gamecube DID deliver. Compared to the looming shadow of XBOX with it's Halo? No. But GC has some SERIOUSLY sweet games (and I'm not just some fanboy. I don't even own one. I have the XBOX) The only failure of GC was commerical, not in the games themselves.

 GC was sort of a Wii-lite, in that Nintendo intended to make games more accesible to "casual" gamers and non-gamers through the Gamecube.

Think of the Wii in a year when 3rd party developers will have gotten a firm handle on the control scheme.

And also, most consoles have a choppy first year. What did the 360 have that made it so amazing (other than it's graphics)? Wow...Perfect Dark Zero. Craaaap. If you compare Wii to the first year of the 360 and the PS3 right now, I'm so thankful that we have the fun games that are out there now (Zelda:TP, Super Paper Mario, Warioware...to name a few) instead of having to wait for good late-year releases (Metroid 3, SMGalaxy, ResidentEvil, etc.).

People always talk about the console wars. What does "winning the war" look like? The other consoles going out of business? Not gonna happen. So, what does "winning" mean? If it means you have the largest market appeal and the strongest sales so far, Wii is definitely winning the war.

Nintendo always delivers, given enough time. Period.
