No Man's Sky dropping to $24 might be nice if it weren't for the fact that it's a sale price, not a permanent price drop.

I recently decided to give the game a shot myself, and between the performance issues, control issues, and art style, if it were 60% off from a $24 price point I might say it's worth buying. As it stands, however, it doesn't really feel like a game that's worth $24, not compared to all the other games out there.

@kaminobenimizu: Don't forget that the graphics engine has some performance issues, control customization doesn't extend to mouse buttons beyond the basic three, and there are hard-coded key bindings that don't show up in the binding menu and can be overridden by rebinds such as binding the galaxy map to Tab making it impossible to open your inventory in space since the inventory button is hard-coded to Tab.

So not only is it a walking/hoarding simulator, it's a technically deficient one too.

Didn't Adobe stop supporting Flash like a year or two ago? I can't recall having seen any updates installed in well over a year, and long-standing, exceedingly obvious, issues such as Flash crashing Steam and in-browser when full screen video playback loses focus have been going on for years now.

Hell, given the way Flash performance has degraded every year I'm almost tempted to suggest that any patches they've put out have been designed to make it worse in order to "convince" people to stop using it.

@bdrtfm: Steam does. Be a good thing when they migrate away from it since their use of Flash has disabled video playback on the web-site and causes the Steam program itself to up and crash if I've got it playing a full screen video and the program loses focus.

Lots of other sites do as well, especially porn sites. Hell, Crunchyroll uses Flash still, and that means that their videos have a tendency to randomly crash, sometimes at the same spot 2-3x in a row.

Given that I've no desire to see which one or more of the over a dozen other sites I'd need to enable scripting from to see the video in this article I'm not sure what trailer it is, but if it's the official one then yeah, anyone suing over that being "repugnant" is blowing smoke out of their ass.

On the other hand, if the guy had seen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LclHp7zppQY and thought that that was official Zenimax material it could be understandable.

@superklyph: Why would I be upset? Selling women into marriage and bondage has been a time-honored tradition of humanity for tens of thousands of years. Even in modern "western" societies men are still frequently "buying" wives via "dating." The biggest difference between modern dating and arranged marriages is the amount of control the female subject has in the affair, but the gross mechanics are substantially identical in terms of proving economic/genetic worth.

I leave it up to the "politically correct" sorts to get upset over displays that are closer to historically accurate than they're comfortable with because it clashes with their warped view on what it means to be human.

@superklyph: No shit. It goes from being PC to historically accurate, and that's something that nobody wants to see.

@Syko696: Don't forget the updates about WWE too! It's almost like they get paid to toss out and promote clickbait articles. :-/

This would have had my interest if the games had been available via GOG Connect. I paid $5 apiece for all three games, and while I don't necessarily object to paying to support GOG and DRM-free gaming, I do have an issue with effectively tripling the cost of the game. Had I not purchased them via Steam already I'd be more interested though, especially for Oblivion given that using OBSE and even launching the Steam version of the game can be a chore at times. Hell, AFAIK I can't even run Oblivion directly and have to launch the launcher through Steam before using that to play the game; if I don't do that then I get an error code every time I try to play.

Not to say that piracy is a good thing, but when you can just link a shortcut to OBSE, launch it, and play Oblivion with a pirated copy but you have to navigate to Oblivion in Steam, launch the game's launcher from the game launcher (that is to say Steam), and then launch the game, piracy is sure a lot more convenient.
