WRONG WRONG WRONG *shakes head* where do i start. First of all my rig is well built to the point it can last me 3 years. Second of new cpu and ram haha get real. I have 8gb of ram and no game will ever come close to even use that amount of ram. I can even ride this whole year if i want to not upgrading at all. These console ports hardly even pushing my rig at all. I can run it so well. And i am using a 3870 GPU. You know how cheap this card cost. 99 bucks. And yet it still owns. Now when i do decide to upgrade next it wont be because of gaming. I do alot of virtulization and that is very more demanding than any console port game out there. But as for gaming i am way and above of the game requirments. The system that i built one year ago cost me 1700. Funny how most of you only focus on the cash but not so much what you be getting in return. in any case a good gaming rig would cost about 1000 self built of course not some hardware store that will build it for u BIG Difference. Another thing i don't get why would i want to upgrade my cpu if in fact games don't hardly even use dual core at best. Secondly or better yet where do u get the ideal getting everything again??. you can recycle parts you know. Like keeping the hard drives cd dvd drives monitor sometimes ram. Gee the only thing i need to upgrade in my case is the cpu mb and maybe faster ddr3 in everything else stays intact. That is another thing annoys me. Wow just wow how people assume about a whole new build again no wonder this debate don't die. People really lack in knowledge when it comes to computers. in fact i be upgrading gracefully not forcefully. I rarely run into games where i don't meet the requirements. worth every penny of it. Every games i just bought just works everything set to highest settings possible. Even silent hill home coming and bioshock devil may cry especially the new call of duty games. All set to high on my 1 year old 3870 card. If that wasn't enough since graphics card are soo cheap these days i can easily extend the life of my pc even further buy going triple gpu setup or even a quad setup if i wanted too without even paying alot. But i will stick with dual gpu setup. Buy another 3870 and plop it in and now i have 2 video cards that will further add more muscle to my rig. My Cpu is more than capable of. So the next time you say that you have to upgrade again i will laugh my ass off LOL. Because simply that isn't true anymore. I can even run assassin creed (though that game was ok did not like it i pass) most of these games i play so far are barely starting to touch dualcore. that how efficient a desktop cpu is. For everything else it is plentiful. I went with a quad core because of vmware and can have that running in the background while gaming. I test other os for fun whatnot. If a game can run while having wmware running then i am set for this whole year AGAIN. In the pc world there is no such thing as next generation as consoles do. Consoles are limited when it comes to horsepower but they make sure you get the best experience by adding shiny flashy interfaces just to hide all the weakness of consoles. PC's don't even have to show it. I can run multiple ose's at the sametime and still be able to game. Gpu's in these video card is not about making you waste money. They are getting very advance. the 4870 1gb ram will definitely last you about 2 or so years if you have your setup right. (making sure you don't have a weak cpu). considering that my ati 3870 last a year so far and still going. Another price drop on the 4870 i am getting it maybe 2 at best lol. going from a 3870 to 4870 is a big jump but yet small upgrade. no cpu upgrade or ram or mb upgrade necessary.
If i ever hear "of course pc's can outperform consoles but you have to pay 3grand to get where consoles at" ever again that just shows that you should pack up your computer and return it and stick with your tv and your simplified devices because these people don't need to own a pc. or any pc form like device because they are clueless. I have said it before many times and i don't mind say it again that how many times it has been said that PC GAMING IS NOT EXPENSIVE!!! I have spoken lol.
Who cares one to his own liking I gave up to this pointless thread. Me personally prefer pc's over consoles because of the building and that the hardware has gotten really cheap. No longer do you have to spend a lot to build a kick ass machine. Secondly this gives you the knowledge to get a good job that pays well in return. To bad consoles can't do these things as their primary funtions is entertainment. With that being said this thread is pointless because of lack of knowledge from a lot of you. This thread is now boring and nothing helpful I am out.
True true but does not mean PC's are inferior to consoles. This just shows that one of the following Game wasn't properly tweaked on the pc or have been overlooked. PC has tons of settings and maybe gamespot did not have time to adjust it properly. Or it could be that the game was a not a good port to the PC. Other games Like Devil May Cry 4 really shines on the PC than on the consoles because Capcom really put their effort on porting it to the PC. So these comparison is really about what time is being put to which version the most.
a single 3870 gpu already mops the floor with the cell. It literally owned the ps3 in the folding@home. That is where you truly test the ps3 true abilities and yet it lost to a ATI/AMD 3870.
Why do people still think pc gaming is expensive??. This just shows how clueless people are. Gaming Computer does not cost an arm and a leg. Noticed Amazon09 keeps getting low ranks. He is brain washed by Sony. with there outdated consoles cant even emulate its own ps2. At least PC's can emulate itself no problems and can even emulate ps2 games too and no doubt ps3 games but no one will waste their time making a emulator of the ps3 because it just ain't practical and can get into trouble doing so. We are so used to this. Console users however are not and need a bit of a hand holding from pc users LOL.

\$3000 LOL. who in the right mind pay that much. Oh wait Apple Fanatics LOL!!!. I only paid 1700 for mine ONE YEAR AGO and i still am at the cutting edge of these games. Only There is no reason to be paying for that much on a computer Period!. 900 pc's can easily have the best gaming experience. Where are these people getting their figures from Sides apple fanatics. Man people are sure stuck in the past of PC's being expensive over consoles NOT ANYMORE!!
