@ItchyIsVegeta I agree. I think the next successful MMO will have to be on a console. Honestly, something like KoA as a multiplayer on a console would be awesome, you can quest solo, and even defeat a few bosses, but in order to get to the really good loot, you have to team up, they could even follow a "guild wars" model, where you can hire AI players to help, if you don't want to play with real people.

@rarson @RE4GreatesGame I completely agree. I firmly believe that in order to own a patent, the owner should be actively pursuing its use. I haven't taken the time to look up what Microsoft is actually infringing on, but if Motorola has claimed a patent for the "home gaming console" then they should be building them.

If Microsoft is really infringing on patents, then they should be held accountable. Sounds like Motorola should be entitled to something if Microsoft is using their technology. However, I don't think the solution here is to ban console sales. Just have Microsoft pay the royalties and move on.

KoA is easily one of the best games I've played to date. I know there are a lot out there very similar to it, but so far I have zero complaints. I haven't beat it yet, but have over 70 hours into the game (don't have time like I did in the college days). Once I beat this, I move on to diablo 3...

KOA is one of the few games I have played in a while where I'm actually having a ton of fun. If this is anything like it, sign me up!

Hmm...Same manufacturer...not sure I trust them. Although you can't give them too much blame; they just built the systems, microsoft's engineers designed it.

Honestly, I shouldn't be giving Microsoft another chance at the console war, I'm on my 4th 360, and I shouldn't have ever had to go past 2. I'm only giving them a chance because they have a better online service than sony does (you get what you pay for in this market), and on top of that, they have the best controller (in my opinion) out of the big 3.

I am excited for Next Gen!

Not really a great idea. The intro price of $99 isn't much less than a "buy it now" price used, or even new (vs $199). Unless this is a foreshadow of xbox live prices increasing, it's a no-brainer to just buy the console outright, and then pay for live on the side. I haven't had a problem finding 12 months of xbox live membership cards for $39-$49 dollars. Around the holiday's last year the local Bulk retailer (Costco) had them for $30 each. I snagged 3. To top it off I now do the family plan (rolled the 3 cards into 18 months of family service) and that is only $100/yr. Have 4 people on it (all family, and in the same house) so it only costs each person $25 a year.

I will admit that this format looks appealing for the next generation, especially (like another member mentioned) if the console is in the $600-$800 range.

I hate to admit it, but I generally enjoy EA published games. One of the games I'm currently (re)playing is Kingdoms of Amalur, which is definitely one of the better games I have played in a while, and guess what, EA is the publisher (one of them at least, not really sure how all that "stuff" works.). The only thing I really see EA guilty of is re-releasing the same rehashed crap year after year, as well as releasing "map packs" for full retail prices, but in their defense they are only releasing this stuff because the "masses" will buy it. Let's face it, they are in the game to make money, and they have the cash in hand to bank on the franchises they know will generate revenues. Personally, I tend to enjoy EA games.

I plan on picking it up. They may rehash the same crap over and over again, but it is still fun, and you can walk away without feeling like you're missing out on something. @mrfidget hahaha.

Personally I see this as the community working together to stop something that they strongly feel would not benefit the gaming community. The developers want us to buy new, they make more money that way, but it comes down to the willingness of the community to buy a product to ensure its success. This developer is smart, trying to calm the fire he started before too much backlash threatens any future success. Used games may not help in the way developers want it to help, but I believe that used games are necessary in the gaming industry to ensure that the games purchased have monetary value. Not all of us are part of the 1%, we actually have to work for a living. To justify a new purchase we may have to sacrifice a few of our old titles. There are so many reasons to keep used games around, and there are good reasons to get rid of them. I don't believe that publishing giants will pass the savings on to the consumer, but some of the smaller companies may. There is an argument that Steam drastically reduced the PC gaming price, but the counter argument to that is, did Steam sell 5 million copies of MW3? With numbers like that, Steam would have no reason to lower a price when demand shows that the higher price tag is acceptable. I'm glad this guy is trying to put out some fires and we all know he really wishes used games would go away; but in this economy, now is not the time or place to fight for it. Score one for the gamers!
