I would have to say Honda Civic, or a Hyundai Accent. They're smaller cars, and have very good mileage. There are the new Honda Civic Hybrids out (in Canada at least) so that may be a more viable option, where highway mpg gets even better (80 mpg or something) and city is around 45ish. Again, that's using metric gallons. So, I'd look it up a little bit and compare the honda's to the Hyundais. There is also the smart car, but that things so small, can't really carry much except two people. Or the mini, which has a similar problem. And both cars are fairly expensive still.
Just a question; even if you bought it in North America, wouldn't you have to pay customs on computer hardware anyways, which is usually the taxes anyways?
