I just finished Alan Wake, great game, but only 6 episodes? when I finished the last level and the credits appeared I was like "woah.. already :|"
so I've been wondering why some games are so short. it's because of DVD 9's limitations?
"One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don't have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It's a slightly bigger DVD disc.
"I think that the 360 is going to have to get 'round this issue we're talking about. I can think of various ways they can do it. Hopefully, they're going to adopt one of those in the next year or so, because it's going to become more of an issue. If we're filling up the disc right now, where are we going? It's not like our games are going to get any smaller. I think that issue's on the table with a bunch of games right now. I'm sure they'll come through with an intelligent solution."

you have 720p on console because devs wanna really squeeze it to make the consoles look fresh. a pc with a slight better hardware won't be able to run all games at 1080p at all1) It does 1080p
2) It does not need to run games on high to look better than console counter-parts

the point is that pc gamers keep comparing pc's to the "crappy-outdated" consoles and to me it's not a fair comparison. that's it. games can be compared yes, but stating Pc gaming > console gaming is still an opinion, unless you're talking about hardware, which again it does not make any sense to compare an upgradable paltform with othere that are not.[QUOTE="Metroid_Other_M"][QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]
then what's the point of this thread is it's all about opinion?

it's an advantage...not an unfair advantage. but you seemed pretty adamant about games being the most important thing. you even highlighted "games" in your original post.
games yes, the only aspect that I find it fair to compare. like when you compare 360 Vs Ps3, you can also compare Pc vs System, but you can't compare the hardware of a Pc with the one of a console, you need to compare something that both platforms can do. "Consoles can't do dx11" said someone earlier. that technology didn't even exist in 2005, so, of course consoles can't do it. now if they were upgradable pieces of hardware, then yes, it'd be perfectly fine to compare them also hardware-wise.[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]
[QUOTE="Metroid_Other_M"] it still doesn't mean anything. I can like ps3 exclusives or any other consoles' more than anything on Pc. it all comes down to preferences, not to what the spreadsheet says. edinsftw

Isnt that what fanboys always make it once they are trumped?
fanboys? you don't know what you're talking aboutit still doesn't mean anything. I can like ps3 exclusives or any other consoles' more than anything on Pc. it all comes down to preferences, not to what the spreadsheet says.[QUOTE="Metroid_Other_M"][QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]
this generation alone the pc has more high scoring exclusives than all three consoles combined. what are you going on about?

saying that Pc gaming > console gaming is utter nonsense, because of the abovementioned reason, that is !games!

I'm not going to let you tap dance around my points. Just because a new game comes out doesn't mean you need to sell your car and buy a whole set of upgrades. Crysis is just an example of how far PC gaming can go -- and with DX11, it can go a heck of a lot farther.
actually you tap dance around my points. the other user said that the 480s can finally max Crysis out and then I said "why would anyone wait all that time before maxing ONE game out?", so I stuck to the original quote, you did not. and I did not say that you need to upgrade everytime a game comes out.because all I'm interested in is playing a game at a certain given time, not put up a long fight before my rig can finally own that game.[QUOTE="Metroid_Other_M"][QUOTE="Sheppard212"]
Why woudln't you? Because you can. I don't see freedom like that on the consoles.
Sheppard212
Crysis is merely an example of improving standards, it's not a one-size-fits-all argument for being able to play something on the PC. Usually when a game comes out, you can play it. Starcraft 2 as an excellent example of this.
yes, but we were talking about Crysis, it'd be plain crazy if all the pc games would follow that path..[QUOTE="Metroid_Other_M"]
and what's the point in waiting years before you can finally max a game out or play it at high settings?
edit: I'm referring to Crysis
