the PC can't be way better than consoles while simultaneously being held back by them, that makes no sense.....

ExESGO

A game like Crysis pushes the limits of hardware, further expanding the market and making the previous generations of hardware a tad bit cheaper, and the cycle continues. A console is outdated hardware not pushing the limits of anything today.

True, back then, the recommended card of Crysis can't even run the game on 60 fps. Nowadays, we have a card that can run Crysis on 60 fps (the 480s). Then Crysis 2 came.. don't think it'll be pushing the limit though.

and what's the point in waiting years before you can finally max a game out or play it at high settings?

edit: I'm referring to Crysis

but posting a pic of a mod version of GTA IV or Oblivion and pitting it against the console version of a game doesn't make sense at all, IMO. it's like comparing 2 different games. mods exist because computers are not bound to a set piece of hardware, that's why I say it's not fair to compare Pc with consoles.

why do we not compare the exclusives instead? like X system gets that, Y gets that.. etc.

I've always wondered it. why compare Pc's to consoles? how can we compare a system that can be upgraded toset pieces of hardware?

The "I-built-a-new-gaming-rig-that-destroyes-any-consoles" is a puerile statement imo, maybe someone should compare a 2005 rig to the current consoles, now that'd be a fair comparison, wouldn't it?

if any of you pc gamers built a rig in 2005-2006, I don't think it is THAT superior to consoles and I really doubt that you can play most of the games at high, so the other void argument is that you don't need to upgrade your Pc every 3-4 years in order to keep up of the times. so imo "mocking" consolers cause they own "crippled Pc's" is a silly statement, as well as stating that pc gamers can't stand 30fps and 720p and that consoles' hardware is too weak. everyone knows why devs drop resolution and framerate, but in any case how many pc gamers can actually max all the games out with a 4-5 year old rig?

I understand that playing in front of a monitor, 720p doesn't look that good, but when sitting on a couch, at a fair distance from the Tv, you won't really notice the jaggies, unless you pay attention to them or get close to the Tv. And when it comes to framerate, 30 fps is fine for most of the games, so I never understood why some hermits come and say "I can't stand 30fps". Like in another topic someone posted screens of GTAIV on Pc that looked far better than the console versions, I mean really? back in 2007-2008 you needed a Nasa pc to play the effin game, not to mention all the hassle and performance issues.

when it comes to exclusives, Pc does have lots more of them than all consoles, but if you don't like the rts and mmo genre, you're skipping half of the whole exclusive list and another void argument is when Pc gamers state that they can even play 30 year old games and that that is not possible on a console or that they can emulate console games on their computer or *insert reason*.

i believe that games should be the most important factor in gaming and that pretty much everyone would gladly have a powerful Pc if they could, but saying that Pc gaming > console gaming is utter nonsense, because of the abovementioned reason, that is !games!

Nov 2006 era Geforce 8800 GTX says hi.

sureeeeee everyone bought that gfx card back then. it cost like 2 consoles combined!

are you seriously using mods as an advantage for pc gaming? why does anyone say that you need to patch the game x 20 times in order to make it run decently? I wonder why it got 9.0 on Pc and 10 on consoles?

[QUOTE="adamosmaki"][QUOTE="waltefmoney"] So if he has a weaker PC he has to spend 250$ to turn it into a gaming rig? How is that cheaper than any console, when the new Xbox 360 with a 4gig harddrive costs 199$? Same price for the Wii + a game.

waltefmoney

and what if the universe was flat? i dont get your logic All i say if someone need a new computer why not go the extra $200-300 more over a standart dell/hp pc to add gaming capabilities instead of going with a console? Or someone with a fairly decent pc why not upgrade with $200-250? Or someone who already has a gaming capable pc why not buy the same game for $10 cheaper considering it will perform better as well?

Because you were trying to make it sound like you were actually paying less money than on a console, which you are definitely not. Think about it - for the comparison I used one of the most expensive consoles of all time, and it was still cheaper than any decent gaming PC.

with the due proportions, Pc's can be less expensive than consoles. Pc allows you to do more stuff than just gaming

I guess it has something to do with the hd consoles' unability to run games at 1080p at 60fps Gezo24

Have you ever seen MGS4 in 1080p?

no, because it's sub-hd. where did you play it in 1080p?

I guess it has something to do with the hd consoles' unability to run games at 1080p at 60fps and their lack in the exclusive department. Many pc gamers use this argument when comparing consoles with Pc, stating that the current systems are nothing more than crippled pc's, with a few exclusives here and there that are the only reason why someone would choose a console over a gaming rig.

but is there really such a huge difference between a pc multiplat and a console's? I guess there's not, considering that you play console games at a distance and you won't notice the graphical jaggies, while on Pc you usually sit very near the monitor, not to mention the fiddling with game settings in order to play it decently.

so, is the hassle really worth it when the difference are not night and day as someone would think?

More reasons about Oblivion.

AnaleFaust

No real reason when you have a girlfriend.

You wished your girlfriend looked like that.

his girlfriend has certainly better graphics than the woman character on Oblivion
