@Thanatos2k Um, no. Sony doesn't own the Idea or the Patent. That's why the lawsuit was filed by the inventor himself and not Sony. Sony as a company has no involvement in the case what-so-ever.

So the system by itself is a loss for Nintendo, but one software purchase makes the entire transaction profitable? That's really not TOO bad. At least not as bad as some people are making it out to be. Everyone seems to forget that The PS3 operated in the red for the first 5 years of it's existence. So I wouldn't label the Wii U as "dead in the water."

Not yet.

I don't think the Wii U will stay in the red nearly as long as the PS3 did (especially with their exclusive line up). I see the Wii U getting turned around by the end of next year at the very latest. Because by then, some of those big titles people are waiting for will be out and newer ones will be on the horizon. If the console is still struggling after those titles released, then I would start sounding the alarm.

But they have plenty of time to turn things around and more financial operating room than people think.

@blast880 @Micropixel @WolfGrey Lots of gamers have gone that route and chosen the 3DS over the Wii U. At this point, it's not a bad choice, really.

@WolfGrey @Micropixel If that's what people want. Some players do enjoy their Wii Us and are looking forward to Nintendo's titles. Just like Sony fans and Xbox fans are looking forward to theirs.

It's not crazy logic.

@WolfGrey Well, a $299 Wii U Basic Set along with a 1TB USB Hard Drive together is still cheaper than a PS4. And you're left with about $20 or so to use on the eShop before matching the PS4's price tag. So you're not really losing anything by going that route as a Wii U owner and the value between the two consoles is still pretty comparable.

What it really comes down to is what people want to play.

@krystyla @Micropixel Well the Vita has been out a lot longer, too.

You know, in the same time frame from their launches, a lot of these systems struggled exactly the same before they picked up. Just saying.

@b74kd3th I think you'll see the PSVita recall before a Wii U recall.

@krystyla @Micropixel @19James89 This is probably true. But pulling exclusives also could affect sales of a platform. That's one of the chief complaints about the Wii U; Not enough exclusives.

And let's not forget, their reasoning behind that were ZombiU's lackluster sales. Neither of those games are comparable.

@19James89 @Micropixel Well, I would rather have them handle it this way than to have a repeat of how they handled Rayman Legends.

Everyone forgets how UbiSoft wronged Wii U owners with that title. And we're still waiting for it.

Well like the article says, the game will still have online Co-op and online multi-player modes. And as Ubisoft said, "The Wii U is the only version where you really get to experience first-hand how OPSAT works for Sam and how it feels to actually operate it."

So this is one of the few times I'll give my nod of approval for something like this. It's not a big loss at all. The game still features far more than the other versions do and the only reason UbiSoft is making this tiny little sacrifice is so that the game launches on time with the other versions.

I'm totally okay with that.
