What people here don't seem to get, especially console fanboys is that a console such as PS3 or X360 are the same as a PC. The only difference is that big companies like Micro$oft and $ony like to promote consoles cause it's a locked platform which means it's a rip-off heaven for them. Average game on consoles cost £10 more than on PC. You have to pay to play online (Xbox Live). Console is a platform to rip off people and it's been doing that for ages and this generations is even worse with all the download content that you have to pay, like 3 maps is an extra £10 lol.

There is almost no difference between consoles and PC. Every new generation, consoles are becoming like PC and they add features that have been available for a long time on PC but the main difference is that consoles is a locked platform which means that companies like micro$soft can charge you £50 for a wireless adaptor, £100 for a hard-drive etc.

I agree with TC, PC = fredom and independence

Yawn. Why is it that PC gamers seem to only talk about graphics, and not about games? The only games they talk about are console games and how superior Crysis's graphics are to them

BPoole96

*facepalm* Go to system wars and count how many threads are about console graphic kings and how many are for PC games. PC gamers can't compete cause we are not that sad to count pixels and look at every shadow and then claim that PS3 or X360 graphics are better.

950 watt PSU is more than enough for 5870. These new cards are more power efficient than the 4000 series so you got nothing to worry about

Hey guys,

I am planing to upgrade my current computer hardware from AMD 64 3400+ to a Phenom II CPU. Obviously I will have to buy new Motherboard, RAM and CPU but I will keep the same hard-drive, PSU etc. Where I need help is with the Windows OS, since I haven't got a Windows CD, I am thinking borrowing one from my friend and using it with the same Windows code that I can find sticked on my case. This is where I am not sure if this is going to work and if it's going to be legal thing to do.

Will using my friends windows cd and using my product key which can be found on my case, will it work? Or will I need to buy a new version of windows?

Thx for any help :D

Why are you guys using newegg when he clearly lives in the UK? You guys need to use a website that is from the UK such as ebuyer, they are probobly the cheapest in the UK.

As for the 1k computer, I would just get a Phenom II quad-core CPU with two 5870 and crossfire them. That should last you for years and you will be able to max out all the games until next-gen starts.

23rd this months

$400

Performence should be the same or maybe a little bit better.

It should be able to run these games fine, depending on how good the cpu is

If your only going to game then it's way more important to get a beast of a GPU if you want it to last for 3 years. If I was the one going for this build I would drop the expensive Intel crap and for a cheaper AMD Phenom II build. The performence would not be that different especially in gaming compared to the intel setup but you would save alot of money which you could then invest into a good GPU. I would recomment u buy the new 5870 which comes out this month. Or even better wait a couple of month and go for 5870x2 then you would be set for years.

My opinion is go with a seriously cheap Phenom II system, since you are not going to overclock parts would not matter that much. I would got for a cheap AM2+ mobo, P2 940 and 4GB of DDR2 ran and the rest spend on a sick of a GPU.

One thing is for sure the 260gts will strugle to run games on max in three years time, especially if you are going for his res.

Good Luck

Without the PC, consoles would be nowhere now. If PC gaming really did die it would be the end for consoles since newer generation of consoles would have the same weak GPU as the old one. The ONLY reason why each new gen of consoles have better graphics is because PC as a platform is constantly moving and it keeps ATI and NVIDIA in bussiness and pushesh them to make better GPU all the time. Without PC, ATI and NVIDIA would either go bust or move to another market since there would be no reason to keep developing more powerful GPU and to push technology to the max if there is no buyers.

Consoles fanboys and their graphics kings games only need to thank PC for their GPU to be good as there are today. Without PC we would still be on PS1 graphics level.
