[QUOTE="mismajor99"][QUOTE="Deihmos"][QUOTE="mismajor99"][QUOTE="Deihmos"][QUOTE="Mizarus"] [QUOTE="Deihmos"]I don't understand how Xfire can compare to Xbox Live. If I am playign a game there is no way of me knowing if said person is using Xfire or not. It only works if you know people that use the software. it's like Windows Messenger.Deihmos
you can search a user up on the xfire, i for one dont like using this sort of program even tho i have an xfire account and log in on it ocanisialy, Steam could also be compared to live even tho they are not the same, the thing is pc dosent need something like live to make online easyer as it already is easy enough, there is a Live version for pc tho, i doubt any pc user would pay to have achivements and a few other perks
I have an Xfire account also but have not logged in or installed it in over a year. I did not comment on steam because all I ever used itdid is buy a game and I did not check out the new features they added. The article suggests Xfire is comparable to Live. That is a horrible comparison. For a messenger service there should be more people logged on at any given time but that is not the case.
Once again, the koolaid is being consumed. Xfire provides everything Live offers minus achievments. Steams new community features are outstanding and easily top Live's service as it's not only free, it offers clan and live chat featurs completely missing from Live.
[QUOTE="marklarmer"][QUOTE="Zeliard9"][QUOTE="marklarmer"] "But say you don't want to build your own PC. We understand-it can be intimidating."
there are so many things wrong with that its hard to know where to start.
Deihmos
Like what? A lot of people *are* intimidated by the thought of building their own PC.
i 'dont want to' go into work tomorrow, but that doesnt mean i'm physically unable to do it.
i hate how hermits talk down to people who play on consoles like they dont know how pcs work and pc gaming is the only way to learn.
I don't understand why some act as if owning a computer is anything special. We all have computers and all ofthey are all capable of playing games.
It's not special to have a computer, but having a Gaming PC that you build yourself is a hobby into itself. I can understand why Fakeboys and PC haters have a hard time understanding that.
I build my own PC and do so as a hobby and I love my PC but don't go around gloating about building one or being a "PC gamer" and consoles dumbing down. The way i see it the two don't belong in the same sentence because they are totally different. I wonder how anyone can hate a Computer especially since we all have to use one everyday.
The article addresses the major myths people throw out every single time against PC Gaming, not against PC's. You should know, PC Gaming is always under fire here at GS, but rarely if ever have I ever seen you side with PC Gaming. It's always negative comments from you in reguards to PC Gaming, not PC's. Again, it's PC Gaming we're talking about, not PC's in general.
Most people don't know how to upgrade a video card much less change the ram so what can you expect? I play games for fun so not into the PC is greater than console argument. I wouldn't chose one over other because they both serve their respective purpose. The PS3 or Wii is a different story because I would never buy any of them.
i did not agree with the Xfire compariison though. Until games come with built in Xfire support and everyone on the server is using Xfire you just can't compare them.
Found my old Xfire account. Can't believe it's still active
if a game forced me to use xfire, i woudnt buy it, simple as that
