When considering both games you have to admit regardless of CSS and BF2 being labelled as an FPS both games differentiate from others in unique areas.
Take the example of BF2, in my opinion i felt it was aimed at gamers who enjoy tactical warfare on a large and i mean large scale. Now how BF2 does this to many gamers who played BF2 are quite aware of. The ability to use vehicles at your fingertips as either driver or side passenger giving the player diverse ways to complete the objective. Also the use of different sub classes such as medic, sniper once again allow the player to choose how they want to play but also how their play style is and this is reflected by the gameplay. Squads can either decide to go head on and take out the opponent or use tactical techniques such as disabling surveying devices making it easier for the snipers to take out the enemy. Now isnt that tactics?Â
Nevertheless, CSS does offer that too but in organised matches such as 5v5, 4v4 etc and i have been in many matches over my lifetime on css (check out my xfire: venommotiv3) and i must say it is very, very organised. Matches on dust_2 have consisted of smoking middle and doing an A split (thats a bomb site for those who dont know) to flank the enemy and others where there are two squads outside each bomb site making noise as a way to gain attention thus allowing the other team to plant the bomb. Now isnt that tactics? I must say it is! And on CT's this is the same...positioning an awper at middle to signify when a rush at short is happening and preventing it and the use of 'eco' allowing us to gain an advantage when the other team squanders their money. I havent seen this is BF2.
Also when exploring the actual 'fun' of the game i must admit both are fun at times. BF2 with the countless vehicles allowed, planes, boats, cars, tanks! So much fun ive had in aeroplanes and jets alike and the thrill u must admit is sheer bliss when ur getting chased by another plane or jet. Or it could be just me.
Css also has it shares of thrills non the less. The ability to use one of the most loved yet hated weapon in the game, the awp, is fun when u have it...yet horrid when its aiming at you. The power of that weapon makes the game soo fun but also guns such as the MP5 which ive found not many use, gives fun in short ounces as you strafe side to side and spray and pray like hell. Surprisingly, im quite good at it! Many headshots, many times!
However, i must admit both games have their flaws. Security. Steam has its VAC, BF2 has its Punkbuster. Both are flawed. VAC is know for its lack of banning hackers and so is Punkbuster and those who say 'i have never seen a hacker' either dont play often or play matches regulary. I have seen speedhackers, aimhackers, wallhackers on yes VAC secured servers and yes i do find their steam ID's and report them but i know its too no avail.
Punkbuster like others have mentioned use up the PCs resources which to many gamers they cannt have as they need it for other things and also many hackers are not stopped by Punkbuster regardless of how many resources it uses up.
Overall, both games are fun but in different areas! CSS for the public fun in either small games or large games depending on ur tastes or BF2 for the vehicle capabilities and the thrills of driving in air and land vehicles alike.
