I think thats what I might end up doing. besides I got loads of games to carry on playing on the ps and xbox still so. Another question what do you think of the amd fx 8 core? I have been looking at it and it seems the i5 still gives better results but nothing yet really using the 8 cores. Do you know of any PC games that are being built around their 8 core design to take use of them. If not doesnt it make the 8 cores more or less for cores but I really like the look of it as a future purchase but only if its going to be taken advantage of

AMD's eight core CPUs have more potential processing power than an i5. However, the per core performance (or single threaded performance) is better on Intel's recent CPUs. For a game to run better on an AMD octo core, it must be able to efficiently utilize more than four cores, which very few games currently do. We know the PS4 will have an eight core CPU, so hopefully future PC ports will run better with more cores. This leaves anyone currently looking into a new gaming PC with a bit of an annoying decision to make; do you want an Intel quad core so you get better performance in current games or an AMD eight core so you hopefully get better performance in future games. Of course, you could grab an Intel 6 core and get the best of both worlds, but you'll have to be prepared to drop $500+ just on the CPU alone. I'm hoping Intel and AMD can both release fast eight core CPUs early in the next console generation.

all of that implies that:

1) I do not get good gaming performance on my 8350

2) That with the older games which are mostly single threaded, you can tell the difference between 150 fps and 200 fps

3) The 8350 isn't a monster in everything outside of gaming

all 3 of these things are wrong

Which will garner better results? It seems like the HDMI To DVI-D looks better, but is it just me?

They are both digital so there is really no reason they should look different unless you are running at a resolution one of the 2 doesn't support or there is a problem with the output or input.

10 minutes? Rubbish. What cleaning solution are you using? Mayonaise? Rubbing alcohol will take it all off in seconds. Just get the 99% lanolin free and youre good to go.

I use the arctic silver 5 cleaning kit with the purifier.  I follow the manufacturers recommended steps, since the cpu isnt something I want to mess up, especially an expensive one like the i7.

Bro just use some alcohol wipes, it takes me less than 1 minute to remove all thermal paste, apply new paste and then spread it thin

I have both a 2600k and 3770k... This is little to no difference performance wise.

3770 is a little more future proofed. If you going to OC it then your going to need a really good cooler. Where as the 2600k could get away with cheaper ones.

So, if you can find a 2600k for $30+ less then a 3770k then get that. If they are closer in price get the 3770k or if you want some extra features.

So if I can run a game at highest details and 4x but not highest details and 8x, I can't say I can max the game... That's absurd. I do understand your reasoning, but to say you can't run a game at max settings because you can't use a setting which makes no difference to the picture is a bit silly. Plus, some games offer up to 32x AA, should one have to use that to say they can run the game at max settings? I think when someone say wants to say they're running a game at max settings, they should state the resolution and AA used.C_Rule

You must be using the australian version of the word maxing

[QUOTE="NailedGR"]

[QUOTE="Toxic-Seahorse"] More than not people will state if they are using AA or not. I often see someone say "I'm maxing the game out with [insert level here]AA"kraken2109

yeah, some people have monitors with higher ppi and the highest possible AA is not always needed or wanted

You can't take resolution into account because people have different monitors, the best way of doing it is specify res, aa and AF too. e.g. I max [game] with 4XAA and 16XAF at 1080p, meaning the game is at maximum settings with 4XAA and 16XAF at 1920x1080.

Why did you quote me?  Your post has nothing to do with mine.
