Well, how good is a 7750 compared to an 8400? Btw, I upgraded my power supply to 430 watts a year or two ago.psman012

significantly faster. On this list (which is very good) the 7750 is 50th and the 8400 is 179th.

If you ever played diablo 2 past just leveling in normal you'd know that there really was never any spec choice.

Diablo 3 actually feels like there are more choices than with diablo 2 where there are 1-2 viable cookie cutter specs per class otherwise your toon sucks.

Ondoval

Utterly disagree. In Diablo III the only difference between two characters of the same class and level is the gear they wear; in example: any barbarian at level 60 will use the same set of skills, and once you reach max level with a character there's not reason to build another character of the same class due if you want to play a different array of skills you just change your loadout selection. This means that with only five characters you can fill any kind of combinations of skills in the game, compared with Diablo II LOD in which you can build several kind of viable characters of each class (in example: hammerdin, fanatic zealot, smiter, crusader, cleric... are different kind of paladin builds and each one needs a specific investment of skill points and atribute points to be created. Diablo III just kill that variety. Due this, the game longevity will suffer.

Most of those aren't viable at all

You gotta give us the whole story.

What are you keeping from your old rig, what are you replacing, what is it for, what resolution will it be at and what budget do you have?

so if i combine an amd 8 series apu with an hd radeon 6770 will that be beniffical or not worth it?

TKdreamAge

I think they only combine up to the x6xx series so the 6770 would be out of the question.

If you build it yourself, the specs will be better.

[QUOTE="04dcarraher"] Were you using HDMI through the gpu to supply audio also? You should know that even with their newer drivers for the 6000's series also help the 5000's series also. The guy that had the 5870 switched back in 2010, but the other two had the latest drivers before switching. I even tried helping them out and looked for any fixes , I didnt want them to spend money if they didnt have too.

04dcarraher

DVI only, no clue why it was messing up the sound. I spent quite a bit of time trying to fix it prior to nvidias newest drivers, and then when the new drivers came out, it fixed it. this was an issue for a good couple of months prior to that.

My point is, you will run across driver issues often, especially if you are the go to guy for people's tech support. ATi drivers were bad, but now they aren't. Nvidia drivers have always been about this good. AMD isn't quite to the same level that nvidia is but they are very very close. the 4870x2 was crap and AMD had no clue how to handle crossfire.

Weird, where you using beta drivers before hand? AMD drivers arent bad, but their not flawless as some say they are nor is Nvidia's , Both companies are always improving their drivers and AMD have gotten alot better since the 4000 series but their newer drivers do help the 4000 seroes. AMD seems to drop support for cards quicker then Nvidia does. Ya 4870X2 was an odd ball but when it worked it worked well, but their was too many driver issues that AMD never fixed.

I put beta drivers on to test and it didn't fix it, I tried probably a good 20 or so different revisions of the nvidia drivers, 280.xx worked better and then 295. (whatever the one that just got released is) fixed the issue.

I had that problem before, exactly the same, back when I had a voodoo3. I was kinda surprised to see it pop back up.

I don't think I have ever seen a motherboard with no expansion slots.

Tell us your computer model number, we will find out what you can get.

I will end up recommending the 7750 to you if you have a pci-e 16x slot.

jonleeprice

I have one in our bedroom that has no expansion slots...its an emachines crappy one.

No pci, no isa, no agp, no pcie1x, no pcie 4x, no pcie 16x?

Honestly, I would love to see that motherboard if you have the model number or can take a picture of the inside, that is quite an oddity!
