I personally know three people who had weird issues with their AMD gpu's with certain games and the drivers were the issue new and old didnt matter. One had a 5770 another had a 5870 and another 4870X2. And once they moved to Nvidia based cards all their issues disappeared. Both Nvidia and AMD arent perfect but Nvidia drivers tend to be more compatible and more refined then AMD's, but both are always improving. both have issues but saying AMD drivers are just as good or better then Nvidia's is just false.

If the TC is willing to wait for Kepler he will then have a full picture of whats best for him.

Now you know someone who JUST spent a few hours finding the right nvidia GRAPHICS drivers that didn't mess up the SOUND

The 4870x2 was probably AMDs last poorly supported card. And the 5xxx series was right when AMD started flexing its driver quality muscles.

Since the release of the 6xxx cards AMDs drivers have been superb.

Were you using HDMI through the gpu to supply audio also? You should know that even with their newer drivers for the 6000's series also help the 5000's series also. The guy that had the 5870 switched back in 2010, but the other two had the latest drivers before switching. I even tried helping them out and looked for any fixes , I didnt want them to spend money if they didnt have too.

DVI only, no clue why it was messing up the sound. I spent quite a bit of time trying to fix it prior to nvidias newest drivers, and then when the new drivers came out, it fixed it. this was an issue for a good couple of months prior to that.

My point is, you will run across driver issues often, especially if you are the go to guy for people's tech support. ATi drivers were bad, but now they aren't. Nvidia drivers have always been about this good. AMD isn't quite to the same level that nvidia is but they are very very close. the 4870x2 was crap and AMD had no clue how to handle crossfire.

I have a single core maching funtioning as a router, I also have a dual core machine funtioning as a web server/ media server.

Not everything needs a super expensive CPU.

Even in battlefield 3 i3 is equal to AMD's 4 core.

ZombieAkane

the 4100 is AMDs i3 equivalent, so it makes sense they perform the same.

Also, your comment about the i3 being as good as an 8 core bulldozer, are you high?

I've had this set up since last April with no problems at all.I recently found that the PCI slot on my P67 mobo was not working. No big deal, so I ordered another one. Hooked everything back up the way it was and then hear a *pop*. Look down at the brand new motherboard and on the right side near the ram sticks it ignites into a small fire? Any idea what could cause a small fire like this? And as it turns out, it fried my CPU and ram. Back to the drawing board unfortunately.

I don't think I have ever seen a motherboard with no expansion slots.

Tell us your computer model number, we will find out what you can get.

I will end up recommending the 7750 to you if you have a pci-e 16x slot.

[QUOTE="SamuRai_JeDi"]New lines are probably going to cost around $4-500 I would imagine. Brendissimo35

I could probably afford to go up a bit from 300, if the performance increase was worth it.

the 7950 is a monster of a card, but it is 450 bucks

AMD drivers don't have any more issues than nvidia. Just recently I had was having sound issues on my wife's computer that was being caused by her nvidia drivers, I had to try a few different driver versions in order to solve the problem.

Lets say perfect driver quality is 100

nvidia is 96

amd is 95

I own both, I prefer the nvidia interface more, but as far as just being able to work, they are both about the same.

Just get a regular mouse, some of the best gamers on the earth use what other people deem as a throw away mouse.
