Finally someone at M$ acknowledges that they have done a poor job in communicating the benefits of their console and policies to the consumer! However, if they reinstate policies which they have already reversed, they will rapidly lose their credibility. Consumers don't want a company that is indecisive!
Make a decision, tell us why it is for our benefit and then standby it! This is one of the main reasons why I have not pre-ordered the xbone.
My only problem with digital games (those that are "on demand") is their price. For example, why would I purchase a game on demand for $30, when I can get a game of the year edition from gamestop for $20? The first version of borderlands is a prime example.
Ok, so the phone was probably not the best analogy given the current reasons for the always on xbone, however, he was correct that M$ refused to address the benefit to the consumer of having an always on requirement. A 24hr check-in from the consumer standpoint doesn't seem relevant and M$ did not explain themselves thoroughly. Another issue with the xbone that is also concerning and wasn't addressed was the requirement that the kinect be connected in order for the console to work. Again, explain to me the necessity for this design as a consumer and then look at my reasons for not wanting that design.
In short M$ missed the boat at this years E3, failing to answer/explain key issues with their new system. I will say that some of the games they are bringing to the xbone look interesting, but the lack of answers on several of these issues is unfortunately keeping me from doing any pre-ordering or future purchasing of this console.
Greenberg responded by saying the "mood is positive, good to be able to start sharing what we are doing. But too many details to cover in one day. Stay tuned."
Not sure what mood vibes he's talking about? Everywhere I look the mood is negative towards xbox one.
I myself have great concerns about this new console as well! Not looking very good for M$ at the moment, but we will see what happens at E3 and at release time.
