Videogame consoles have gotten so complicated that they can even't survive a proper lifespan. My first PC I built back in high school still runs; and I spent 7 hours building it off of trial and error. I just read about CamiKitten's PS3 dying. That's horrible. In the past 5 months I've had at least 4 friends have a console die on them. In fact, my Xbox 360 had its last breath in April. So, I bought a new one. NOW! This thing has trouble booting up sometimes, and I have to unplug the power cord and plug it back in order for it to turn on properly.

The dentist was just down the street from high school, and I just had my teeth cleaned. It was a nice day outside in Front Royal, Virginia which is an hour away from Washington D.C. While walking to class all I could think of was getting home from school to enjoy the beautiful afternoon. I just moved to Northern Virginia from Groton, Connecticut; a place I was sure to hate simply because it was up in the mountains in the middle of no where.
I could see Warren County High School sitting in the distance on top of a small hill and the blue clear sky looking down upon the Shenandoah. To my surprise a swarm of Apache helicopters were passing over; that's something I had not seen since my dad was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Considering that there weren't any military airfields nearby, they were considerably low causing a slight disturbence above Front Royal. Then they began to circle, but I payed no attention to it.
Walking the halls of the high school the atmosphere was simply dead. Everything was altered; I don't understand why I never question the eerie silence set before me. Then there was the sound of cries and dispair(maybe that's too dramatic). Everyone was fixed upon the television within their classrooms. I hear one young lady say, "my dad works at the Pentagon". All this did not phase me one bit.
My destination was physical education and I was furious at having to take it once again after my freshmen year at Fitch High School in Connecticut simply because Warren County requires all sophmores to do so. I had stumbled upon a group of new friends that I began to associate myself with. One was a metrosexual black guy named Joel, who we all knew was gay but he never would admit it(until after high school). A good friend of mine named Vinnie and her step-brother Brandon. Then there was this girl named Angela who was simply divine, or maybe I was just oogling her knockers all the time. Ok, yes I was but she was really cool to hang with. Plus her humor was one step ahead of my own, and over the top.
The worst question to ask at the time was "what's going on"? And I did. They directed my attention to the TV and that's when 9/11 became more then just a date for me. The Army Apache helicopters, the disaster on the news, concerned students; everything! And almost the majority of the teenagers attending Warren County High School had a family member working in the D.C. area at the time when one of the planes hit the Pentagon. But our fear could not compare to the children living in New York City...
The date..
by NeoGen85 on Comments
Yes. I just had a date the past Friday, and I can only consider it a date simply because the young lady I went out with that night was slightly dressed up. I was wearing some dress shoes, a pair of nice jeans, and a button up dress shirt. It was kind of semi-casual for me I guess. I think 3 or 4 days out of the week I dress like that so no big deal. Anyway, we went to see a movie, Taking to Woodstock to be more specific. That is a underrated film and a must see!
I got to the theater early and so I decided to get in line and buy us tickets. In the corner of my eyes I see her coming. Besides the white and pink Converse shoes the gal dyed her hair and had a pink Summer dress on. She obviously thought it was a date, and I'm glad I didn't wear anything too casual. She might have felt uncomfortable or embarrassed.
Boys, teenagers, and men here is a tip. When a lady friend dresses like that compliment her even if you're just friends. Why? Because I didn't. I was so surprised that I totally forgot. Other then the "date", gaming hasn't been a big part of my life in the past few weeks. For one reason I'm on a full schedule at college and work. Still, I've manage to treat myself with Little King's Story, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and today I purchased Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Wii! This game is going to be a cult hit and people will be eBaying it in the future even if it's a medicore action-RPG.
[NHL BELOW]
----------------------------
The hockey season starts soon, and NHL 10 comes out next week! But what really has me stoked about the NHL season this year? It's not just the Carolina Hurricanes which are much larger now, but it's the NHL prospects throughout the league. The prospect tournament in Traverse City is underway which has a few NHL teams pitting their prospects against each other. The Carolina Hurricanes prospect team are the heavy favorite this year, and so far have beaten the Rangers, and Red Wing prospects.
They go/went against the Atlanta Thrashers prospects today which is a rivalry in the Southeast during the regular NHL season. Evander Kane is probably one of the biggest prospects in the NHL drafted at #4 overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2009. Even though his team has lost twice in the prospect tournament he has scored a goal in each game and has no AHL/NHL experience. Evander Kane is the youngest and highest player of African descent drafted in the NHL at the age of 17. He looks to make an immediate impact for the Atlanta Thrashers as a goal scoring power forward in his coming years. The Thrashers and Atlanta need a player like him.
It's official. I'm emo..
by NeoGen85 on Comments
I was doing a personality test to see what kind of career in commercial design I would be best at. The assignment was apart of my visual communication media class. The awesome thing is that I was more geared to becoming a graphic designer. BUT! Did you know graphic designers are emo? It's true!
The personality I have(considering the test) is a person who's cautious of himself and those around them. They're very careful about what they do, and work alone very well. Creativity is apart of them! Being shy isn't the problem but more so quiet(speaking when it's only important). They don't make friends as fast as others, but at the same time they have the kindest personality in comparison to others. They cherish friendship, but can easily be hurt emotionally if one is torn. Yet, they less likely associate with drama.
That's when brotha' man-instructor, Mr. Edge, said that the personality was more associated with graphic designers considering they work alone most of time, and know the importance of concentrating on their work(aka not talking). Out of a class exceeding 20(most learning GD) only 6 of us scored high(or low enough depending on how you look at it) to received this type of personality. Then Edge later told us we're all emo.
Class and more class!
by NeoGen85 on Comments
And it begins again! That's right! Class starts again today, and the girls with their daisy-dukes come out to play in the South Carolina sun. This black man right here believes in equal opportunity! Laugh if you will; but there were some gorgeous ladies out to play. Plus I ran into some people I had not seen in awhile. Before I begin though you will laugh, or get turned on by my blog. Either way, you'll have fun reading it.
Pretty much I had 4 hours of sleep before class started simply because I was too excited about starting. PLUS! I'm on the ^^&^% clock at work while going to college since it's apart of my internship(that's so pimp). In my English class there's a gorgeous West African model with an accent that has brotha' and white boys alike trippin'! As far as class work goes it's pretty much straight forward, and as long as you complete it on time you'll be ok.
OH YEAH! Parking was fairly easy to get especially in the morning! BUT! My stupid-ass decided to try and park closer to my next class which is on the other side of campus. I spend about an hour driving around campus trying to find a parking space. This is when I realized that every 17+ year old has a car in the United States. I ended up parking back at my original spot and walking to class.
Along the way I met this little shorty named Latasha; and she was perky as usual. My next class was a Math course and I had one of those old school instructors. But the best moment was actually leaving for Gamestop. I was writing down entry-level and internship jobs on this bulletin board. That's when I saw HER! Who's is she? Jennifer. Born 1975, but looks like she was born in 1988. And I'm not exaggerating. Bad brunette at that. She's a friend of a friend. The last time I saw her, NeoGen85 was tipsy and couldn't stand right. But since I was sober and feeling great my eyes clearly saw a woman in her mid 30s(but woman that age are always looking good) trapped in the girl-nextdoor's body! And all I could think was; come save my world!
Called up my friend Lincoln(now living in Connecticut) and told him I saw his friend Jennifer and how I was impressed! He just laughed. Now, driving to Gamestop! My music up loud while listening to Circa Survive. When I arrived I finally realized how ^&%^$ I was because there are so many great games coming out. I couldn't buy them all. The Metroid Trilogy and Batman Arkham Asylum come out tomorrow! Plus I want the DJ Hero Renegade Edition which cost as much as a videogame console. What I decided to do was go ahead and pick up Little King's Story on the Wii, and pre-order NHL 10.
Before going home I stopped by a McDonald's! Honestly I think they put crack on those french fries. Haven't you notice if you're bringing McDonald's french fries home, by the time you actually get to the house they're all gone?
The PS3 Slim!
by NeoGen85 on Comments
I know everyone is blogging about this but I might as well too! Plus it's been a long time since I've been active with the whole blogging effort. As some of you may know, I work at Sears in the evening which simply gives me an extended work day. Everyone seemed to be closing in on the rumor of a price drop for the Playstation 3. But I wasn't really keeping up with the system wars side of things.
The day before the official announcement of the PS3. I was checking the prices on the home consoles we had available in store. You can also check alerts, and price changes. Immediately it hit me; I SAW IT. A PS3 for $299 was coming up in the system. It had to be true; and of course it is now.
I know everyone is excited especially those who haven't purchased one. I on the bad, Fantasy_Gamer just did a couple of weeks prior to the announcement! In other news; I'm assuming a web designer was fired from Best Buy most recently. He or she accidentally posted a 52 HDTV in advertisement for $9.99. The electronic retail store said they would not honor. Then again there have been a few customers who were able to get away with it in-store. Funny!
Anyway. What have I've been up too? Nothing much besides work. I did get Netflix and I love it especially streaming live video to Xbox Live. I just download Shadow Complex from the Xbox Live Marketplace, and that game is fun! It reminds me of Blackthorne, Castlevania, and Metroid all rolled into one with it's own unique characteristics. It's very hard to put down as well. Sadly Little King's Story has been left out of my game collection, and I must settle for NHL 10 next month. :(
Knowing Impression
by NeoGen85 on Comments
Have you ever watched a movie and at the end you wanted to know more about it? Perhaps what happened to certain characters, relationships, or the world. I just finished watching the movie, Knowing, and it's definitely a film that I tried to like. About 50 years ago a little girl wrote the dates of several deadly events that would occur in the future, and it was put into a time capsule at her school. Then 50 years later a boy and his father stumble across it only to try and stop the future from coming true.
It throws in some Mothman Prophecies, then it does a M. Night Shyamalan towards the end! And when you think the film is over; it just doesn't end there. It shows the sad, the bad, and the good in that order. I'm just talking about the end of the movie in general. Still, Knowing is just a cluster^^%# of events that does make the film entertaining at some moments. And like the idea behind it, everything is unpredictable. This film isn't something you might own, but it's worth a rental(or download). At the same time I just imagine seeing those who paid to view it in theaters walking out saying, what the hell?
Why not older women?
by NeoGen85 on Comments
It's been awhile since I've said anything on my blog. I just haven't really been in that mood to blog about life in general because nothing exciting has happened. Some might say; Josh you're not talking about the NHL Draft? No I am not. Then how was your 4th of July in the US? I worked. xD
Work is what I've been doing. Of course the news is lit up with a bunch of dead celebrities. Actually! Yeah! I am going to talk about Michael Jackson. I'm just going to say how I remembered him as a child. In my parent's home during elementary school for some reason it felt as if Michael Jackson was always playing in the background on a Saturday. I never became sick of it either. I also remember when I saw him in concert in Hawaii and that was just too awesome! I also remember watching Michael talking about his police "examination" on the news.
He isn't really dead. In fact this is how his comeback tour starts. Jackson fakes his death, and everyone mourns(14 hardcore fans commit suicide). Michael Jackson has hundreds at his funeral(which is shown on TV). Once they lower him into the ground, all of sudden this mist rolls in. Rising from out of his own grave, Michael Jackson screams and there's these two huge sparkling explosions. All of sudden Thriller start playing with the 14 "supposedly" dead fans dancing beside him as zombies. A month later South Park has an episode that has Michael Jackson and Jesus fighting over who's the real son of God. xD
Anyway, what I really wanted to talk about is younger men(like myself) dating older women. In our society why is it that a younger woman can marry someone 8 years older then herself with no one doing a double-take. I asked a friend of mine about that; her husband just turned 40 and she's 32. She told me that most older women who do date younger men don't want to settle down. I told her she had a point but at the same time that's not the case for every situation. Then I said; what then? In our society the real question should be, why shouldn't older women date younger men? At the same time there are some obvious answers though(like maturity and life experiences).

Man. It was hot as hell yesterday. It could be even hotter today. But Saturday and this weekend in general has been REALLY good to me. I had about $3,000 in my pocket and I went searching for a car at a low price. I went to the auto auction and did the craiglists shopping. I didn't find anything! Craigslist can be a good source, but only if the previous owner of the car isn't trying to pull your leg. In fact I found a old Eclispe that I was going to buy but the driver's window was out of place(and the controls for it), the hood wasn't aligned right, and some of the stuff advertised in the ad wasn't included(odd). In the end you get what you paid for.
I stopped by this Kia and Honda dealership owned by Stokes in North Charleston. I ended up spending a little bit more then I wanted(still cheap as hell); a 2002 Mazda 626 with less then 50,000 miles on it. It even has swiveling AC! The heat exhausted me but I finally made it out to see a local band called Dante's Camero, play in West Ashley. My buddy, Lincoln had one of his last nights here in Charleston before moving back to Connecticut. We partied hard that night, and I met some new people!
Oh yeah! Over the past couple of days I created this to show how much I think Anthony Green is awesome, and my fanboyism for Circa Survive! I got some positive responses from Facebook friend, and I just wanted to show you all.

Strange Summer?
by NeoGen85 on Comments
The forecast for today is HELL! Yeah, it's getting hot out there. But what I mean about a strange Summer is the amount of videogame releases this season. Summer is the time of the year where more shovelware is thrown at the consumer, and huge blockbuster titles wait for their Fall releases. But considering how 2009 kicked off this year with awesome multiplatform games and many console-exclusive titles; Summer is just as good!
inFamous
Prototype
Little King Story
Ghostbusters
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Halo 3: ODST
Punch-Out
The Conduit
Sims 3
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Overlord 2
The Beatles Rockband
Dissidia, Final Fantasy
Fight Night Round 4
Champions Online(PC version)
Madden 10
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
I'm pretty sure that list might be larger, but that's enough to show that there's a game for everyone in 2009.
