I can only assume a lot of these comments are being made by the 15 and under demographic. I dont mean that as an insult at all; i was the same when i was 14. Hated rap music. Made loud-mouth comments about how garbage it was which i feel embarrassed about looking back.

I guess when you get a little older, around the 18+ margin, you start to appreciate more music and understand that the stuff they put on TV isn't the stuff you should be listening to.

That depends. There are those in the 18+ group that don't like rap. Genres of music are either something you like...or don't. A small percentage of people take the time to get actual experience in various genres...but for most people they are content listening to what they always did.

Again; who said they have to like rap? I haven't said that at all. All i've commented on is the ignorance and general lack of respect given to an art medium and the people who enjoy it, from people who know absolutely nothing about the music they are so quick to vocally dismiss as garbage.

Im 19. I find rap arse clenchingly boring. I listen to Eagles, AC/DC, Airbourne, Killswitch Engage and MANY others. Your statement is void.

No my statement is not void. If anything my statement just shows that there are some tragic exceptions to the rule, and that some people will indeed grow up and still lack the understanding to know that writing off an entire genre of music based off mainstream stereotypes isn't logical.

You can't make people like what they don't.;)

LJS9502_basic

Of course you cant. You can explain to people that they are making extrememly ignorant and close-minded comments however. :|

You can....but it probably won't change anything.

That's exactly what JFK said to Martin Luther King when he asked if he could appear on television with him. ..

Hey rappers, MIX YOUR OWN MUSIC AND STOP USING EVERYONE ELSES BEATS!!!! That beat has been used so much now that I just can't listen to it anymore.

ElArab

Again; you just dont know of any real rap groups. Surely you can see that you're being somewhat irrational? I have to be very careful here as the ToU here can get you modded for insulting people when that isn't your intention; however i have to say you seem to have no real understanding of any of the things you're passing judgement on. Your arguements aren't really arguements at all, but are rather juvenile comments which appear to be designed to annoy others rather than make any real, tangible comment.

[QUOTE="MissRiotmaker"] Exactly. If rappers started taking unique routes in the industry they'd go bankrupt. :shock:CIoud_S
I'm eagerly awaiting the rap tune about getting a job, raising a family and reading to your kids. *waits* *dies* *is reincarnated into a rabid squirrel* *sweet*

Ever heard of the roots? Black thought? Chuck D? Public Enemy? Surreal and the Sound Providers? Ohmegga Watts? Lightheaded?

I hate rap. Does that make me heartless for liking music that's made electronically instead of with talent and instruments?UTXII

No. It makes you somewhat ignorant and dismissive of an art form, while simultaneously demonstrating a fundamental lack of understanding regarding the genre of music you're passing judgement on by claiming it is created electronically and without talent.

Yes. They are. Most of them are true. This new rap genre sucks. It used to be very good, back when they didn't have to curse and pretend to be gangsta all the time, and there were actually talented rappers. :| jaydough

Again, you're just another copy-paste example of a person who watches MTV, sees a mainstream rap video, and thinks that is rap music, and that the newfound understanding they have is a license to tell everybody how terrible the genre is. You have no idea what you're talking about at all.
