The thing I dislike most is the somewhat incompetent a.i., I mean the pawns often fall to their death when they themsevles warn the player to avoid the cliffs. Not to mention when they proclaim to "attack with fire," yet they enchant your weapons with ice, lol.

Then there's the fact that I cannot stand losing merchants. At least offer a replacement, obviously not in appearance, when the other gives up the trade or runs from the land.

My other gripes are the jail system is a bit too harsh, for a video game. And the save system... ugh, I've always hated the single slot save system. The other stuff could, theoretically, be improved with patches. An improved save system will have to wait until the sequel though, I'm afraid.

Speaking of the sequel... I would love the ability to dye clothes and armor, like in Fable.

So where else can I buy new gear? I only know about Gran Soren and occasionaly the merchant there will have new stuff. But is there another town?

A lot of the armor is sold in some of the same places, as their lists will, eventually, contain most of the same type of armor sets.

However, there are exceptions. For instance, a merchant at the Rest Camp south of the Ancient Quarry Southern entrance may sell something that Caxton or Madeleine do not, such as the Archer's Culottes. There's also the merchant that takes up residence in the aforementioned Ancient Quarry itself, after ridding it of monsters of course, and the one at the Great Wall.

There's a few more merchants scattered in and around various places and a few more are added in post-game. That said, most of your best gear you will either find or buy, most likely in Gran Soren, after it becomes "unlocked" in the shops, due to story progression.

It takes me an hour to sift through all the current pawns to find two decent ones. And I don't just mean looks either. I mean regarding armor, skill selection and vocation rank. Also, it kind of breaks the immersion to have a female support pawn named Henry, in my opinion. >.>

Anyway, I put my own spin on my characters before the game even came out, lol. My character and main pawn are kind of twins. Except my pawn is a "slightly" shorter pure-blooded elf with light skin, blonde hair, longer ears and a scar featured on her right eye.

I had a very brief backstory established in my mind prior to the game's release, but it involved them being half-sisters and that's just not possible now that I know more of the backstory of the pawns.

The evade ability is a vocation rank five skill, as is the double jump. So, if you don't have it already, you should have it soon.

I suppose you could keep it there temporarily, seeing as you will need to revisit Bluemoon Tower again, some time after you leave it, lol. But be warned, be ready to fight. As soon as you show up through that portal the baddy will throw down with you.

After that, take the crystal and reloot the place. Most all of the loot in the game respawns. There's very few exceptions here and there. In fact, I can only think of one or two quest related ones, at present.

I'm not trying to convince anyone per se, this is purely my two cents on the idol system as it stands. The Silver Idol works well enough for Caxton, in my opinion. The benefits for giving him the Gold Idol are outweighed by those of giving it to Madeleine, again... in my opinion.

I will say this though, giving him the Gold Idol only allows you easy/early access to a selection of weapons to help you prior to post-game status. After that, any and all weapons you used previously are technically useless, in comparison to the weapons that show up post-game, both in shops and through other means.

Caxton only offers up one single additional weapon for each type if given the gold idol, over being given the silver one. He offers no armor of any kind through this method. Madeleine offers curatives, weapons and armor via the idols. So, if you think you will ever even remotely use a mage, sorcerer, strider, assassin, ranger or magic archer... in my honest opinion, giving Madeleine the idol pays off a lot more. Especially since eventually she will disappear for most people, never to return, until new game plus.

If one is worried about acquiring melee gear, well... I don't know about anyone else, but I'm finding weapons and armor for Warriors and Fighters left and right. So, that doesn't seem to be a big issue in this game. However, ranged and magi gear is not as common.

So, once again... Caxton having the Gold Idol offers a very brief and insignifant bonus. I was more than happy with my Crimson Teeth, silver or gold idol, and Hunter's Bow, the latter of which I easily found in a chest. The uses of armor is far more stretched out than weapons, in my opinion. So I gave the better idol to Madeleine. xD

If you ever notice that any pawn has disappeared, check your equipment or item menus to see if they are no longer in your roster. That means they fell off a cliff or died at some point during a confrontation.

Avoid escorting at night. The enemies are tougher and there are more of them. The one time I got caught around sun down with an npc in tow, they got one-shot while I was trying to keep the Black Skeleton Knight from getting anywhere near them.

Comparatively, it gives Skyrim a run for it's money, regarding length. Though, I would say Skyrim may have more quests, but they can be completed at a much faster pace overall.

Both games have a fairly decent amount of gear to offer. However, I like that you get good gear from chests, quests and other means over having to make it, like in Skyrim. I mention gear, because it's one reason I keep playing a game; to keep striving for better gear, lol.

Yep. I carry six. Three for accidents and three for rooms with loot, which I ran into a place near Bluemoon Tower that required quite a few keys. xD
