@hoyholyhoy @NorwegianWinter It isn't a matter of opinion, and saying you've played the game gives almost no significant information. You're passing judgement on a game that is in ALPHA. Do you know what that means? That means the game is literally in-fucking-development, and as such it will be missing a vast majority of it's features and will have more than a few bugs. Gamers' need to get themselves out of this grossly persistent intellectual poverty because I am growing tired of explaining these considerably SIMPLE facts. Nobody is saying you can't have your opinion, not hardly, so don't take the argument in an irrelevant direction.
It's like taking an unfinished car without shocks/struts; without a fully functional transmission; with a less than ideal suspension, and then sitting it next to a fully functional, albeit, finished car and comparing the two. CLEARLY the finished product will perform and work considerably better.
DayZ Standalone may not even be half way through development. Think about that. And how many people liked your and his/her comment is more proof as to the aforementioned intellectual poverty.
@somebodysilent @NorwegianWinter The point I'm making isn't a difficult one to grasp, so why you can't seem to understand it is a problem you should sometime address. I'm willing to pay the $10 difference for what may possibly be a "superior" product, especially since $10 is not a significant amount of money.
@LucentWolf @NorwegianWinter Anytime man. Yeah, I don't really do MMOs that much aside from DayZ and maybe ESO when it comes out for Xbox One. I agree wholeheartedly though: the genre has a lot of room for improvement, and it seems that we'll see it... eventually lol. The zombies are more significant now than they were before in DayZ, and they're going to keep working on them I'm sure. Everything we see now that we don't necessarily like is just because it's in Alpha. It still has to finish Alpha and move through Beta, which means lots and lots of room for improvement.
@LucentWolf Lol, love the last part. But all you've seen isn't all there is, not at all, and the game has evolved quite a bit since the alpha first launched. Before the alpha launched the developers made several video logs on the games progress and stated their intent and goals with the game, and they're pretty much what you've defined.
Honestly, what you're describing is what the developers aim to do, and I can see them working toward it through all the updates the game has had hitherto. Last time I played the zombies were far more aggressive and responsive than they once were, it was surprising. I shot one with my M4 from about 50 yards and thought that was it, so I began to move on, and about that time I was semi swarmed by about four others and they were there fast enough to catch me off guard and do damage. I can see lots of progress on this aspect and it will very much influence decision making such as you've described it. The developers know players want zombies, and they want zombies to make a significant affect on how the game is played, and they're certainly moving forward with that in mind.
@LucentWolf @NorwegianWinter No, it is not all people do and making such a broad sweeping generalization as to how people play the game doesn't serve a practical purpose. DayZ Standalone is in Alpha, so what players can do now is very likely to be far less than what they can do later in it's development. Let me put emphasis on this fact: it's in ALPHA. As such it's obviously still in an early stage of development, but with that being so, the game is still impressive. Food, water, medical supplies, etc and methods of defense are very real concerns in the game, all of which must constantly be tended to. There are a lot of "bandits" in the game, and as the name suggests, they are aggressive players. There are also a considerabe amount of players who choose to be a "hero", which means they help other players. I myself try to play as a "hero" whenever possible.
@TheClown24 Every game has disadvantages and problems, but DayZ Standalone is in Alpha, so it's clearly to be expected. DayZ the mod is just that, a mod, which does have a lot of excessively distracting and game crippling bugs, that much is definitely true.
