Considering that I've read of blind "listening tests" done at audiophile conventions where the most trained listeners in the world could not tell the difference between 320 kbs and FLAC even on the highest quality hardware, I really don't think it matters.

That said, it's always nice to have FLAC or WAV as an archival copy, so I think you're set.

EDIT: To be honest, I thought this was a joke thread at first :P

majoras_wrath

Joke thread? haha, no, I'm just a noob at the lossless music stuff....

what speaker system or headphones are you using? if youre using crap hardware than its pointless for you to even use bit rates that high, if they are crap just go with a standard 320kbs and youll probs be fine

by crap I mean anything a normal person would use, you know standard equipment and such, as the hardware capable of that range is generally pretty expensive

Kbps is just a ratio of length to file size, it dosn't technically tell you the quality. Also converting FLAC to WAV is going to mean you lose the lossless benefits and compression benefits. Also get rid of iTunes if you're really into your music, it's a terrible music player.markop2003

I know I'm not gonna hear a difference between the 2, especially with the headphone I'm using (sennheiser hd 202), but the lossless thing is mostly a matter of like future-proofing my music. I'm only 21 and have like no money but in the future I'll want to have better quality audio equipment.

Also I know itunes isn't great but seeing as I already have near 3 thousand songs organized on it and the 160gb ipod that's halfway full then I don't have much choices. But why would I be losing lossless benefits? I know I'm losing compression benefits but I'm not gonna be bothered with getting a music player that's able to play flac when I can just convert lossless to another more used lossless format without any loss in quality.

I guess saying what the quality difference was wrong, but what are the differences if any?

ok so i've been downloading a lot of flac files lately trying to get as much of my music in a lossless quality since I used to download music and just have it all in low quality mp3's not knowing anything about that quality and lossless quality until just this past year. Anyway, I download flac files and then convert them to wav files so they're able to play on itunes and my ipod. Most of the wav files have been in 1411kbps and so I came to learn that was the norm for cd quality music.

Then I downloaded some flac files that when I converted to wav for itunes they were 1536kbps. I have it set to automatic and convert the flac files through winamp using nullsoft decoder I think it's called. My question is if there's a difference between 1411 and 1536 kbps and why the 2 are even there. Any information you can provide on lossless would help too since I want to learn as much as I can on lossless quality music.

*I was gonna post this on the audio/video hardware forum but then I noticed the word "hardware" and figured this was more of a software discussion so I hope this is the appropriate forum for this*

ps1-don't remember, but most likely either Metal Gear or Spyro.

ps2-the bouncer...i remember playing this thinking the graphics were out of this world. I got this the same day I got a ps2 but didn't get a memory card till like a week or so later, and I remember dying a lot fighting Mugetsu at almost the end and having to start all over.

ps3-metal gear 4...lol i bought this the week it came out but didn't get a ps3 till like a year later.

If faced with a vampire I'd probably dance like Angel (Sig). While a werewolf would have to be killed with fire...oh but if the vampire sparkles it's going the same way the werewolf is.

[QUOTE="O_Positve"]

Milk...how it's supposed to be pronounced...lol.

This reminds me of this guy I knew who made fun of people that pronounced mayonnaise like how it's spelled (may-yo-naise), while everyone else, myself included, pronounces it like man-aze. That's like pronouncing breakfast brake-fast instead of brek-fist.

Dracula68

You guys all make fun of me for saying melk yet you say man-aze?!?!? Oh the irony!

lol well i pronounce Chicago like it's spelled Shecago...and my mom pronounces chicken like it's spelled shicken but I don't. Different people, different way of pronouncing things.

4 slots for discs? That's the strangest idea I've ever heard. And also why is your PS3 on the other side of your house when you play???

All I hope for is an improved controller - the Dualshock just isn't comfortable for me. Oh and I would prefer if Sony didn't use the Cell, but that won't happen.

Vari3ty

Improved controller you say? How about bringing this one back...

I mean I don't get the hate for this controller. Look at the size of it in the 2nd pic, it's pretty small but has a design meant to be held by your whole hand as opposed to just your fingers. It's ugly sure but I would have liked to try it out. Still I agree on a new controller, mayber not vastly different like this but some changes/improvements.
