[QUOTE="getyeryayasout"]

What, in your opinion, is the bigger breach of trust?(company A): A company that doesn't properly protect it's customer's information from external intruson, or,(company B): a company that knowingly releases a defective and faulty product to their customer base so that they might gain marketshare by getting a years headstart over their main competition?

I think company B is the more agregious abuse of a customer's trust. They knew they were screwing over their customers, where as company A had no way of knowing they were at risk of losing their customer's information, even if they should have been more vigilant.

What do you think?

Shielder7

So basically your asking whats worse a Douche or a Turd Sandwich. Who cares they're both idiots.

lol you know what your right...thier both pretty stupid in diff ways huh...whatever i just like playing games...i think ill go play some halo 3 and enjoy aREGULAR sandwich haha

[QUOTE="heretrix"]The long and short of it:

PSN- Hacked

XBL Not hacked.

In other words:

My PSN account-compromised

My XBL account-Not compromised

Of course you might need more convincing, but I really don't care.

heretrix

lol your funny kid...the xbox has been hacked plenty..guess you forgot when they had to shut service down for 2 weeks...and i havent met one person whos psn has been "compromised" but ive heard plenty of ppl complain about having points on the XBL account and them mysteriously dissapearring...it happened to me 2xs before i stopped putting money on there. Never happened on PsN altrhough i did hear about a couple ppl who lost money when the PSN came back up after being down a couple weeks.

XBL wasn't down because they were hacked, they went down because of increased activity and weren't prepared for the holiday rush. I remember that well. XBL's accounts were never compromised. Lets not start fibbing.Anyone that has had their accounts compromised on XBL were victims of social engineering ie. they were tricked into releasing thieir account info. It's well documented. And lets stop with the kid nonsense, I'm probably older than you are. 77 million PSN accounts had their info hacked, not to mention attacks on their other divisions (SCE, Sony pictures) That's also well documented. Unless you have some proof ( which I know you don't) just stop.

yea of course thats what a company like microsoft would say and of course a loyal pet would repeat it as so, I bet you have a good reason why they intentionally sold hardware they knew was crap and lied about untill one of thier own ratted them out. If your deep within certain communties on both systemsyou know a bit more then what you are told by google searches that are usually somewhat biased in some ways...you seem to spend most your time in here so how you know anything about the systemspersonaly is beyond me. And of course ONCE AGAIN tell me how a bunch of useless encrypted info that cant be used or sold means anything bad for anyone? exactly...im done

Ok. So for all the people saying B, you obviously don't care about your identity potentially being stolen.

Give me your SS#'s and I might use them or not. Not that big a deal right?

Filthybastrd

I can guarantee that A did not want it's consumers to have thire ID stolen. The quality of B's security is something that none of us are all that well equipped to comment on, by the way.

Even the best security in the world is only good till it's broken or in other words: **** happens.....

Is that an excuse? Not at all but doomsaying is hardly a sensible response either.

B intentionally chose to ignore quality control in order to further it's ambitions at the cost of consumers.

EXACTLY...the TC asked which was a worse breach of trust! Now which is worse someone knowingly screwing you over and not caring or against thier will you get screwed over and they do everything they can to fix it?? Ok thought so

[QUOTE="heretrix"]It could have but it hasn't. XBL has been around for 8 years and nothing like this has happened yet.

To me that's more important.

heretrix

Because Microsoft always plays it safe which is why it dont have blu ray...microsoft would be ok with hackers doing whatever it wanted with its systems...sony tried to fight back and they got attacked...and once again nothing came up from it but not being able to play for a few weeks(which HAS happend to MS) and free 1 year protection...Sony has been around longer then 8 years so it had a good run before something bad happen...but say the hackers got bored and decided to hack the 360? then what? you going to only play Wii? if they can get in the pentagon they can easily get in the 360 because its the easiest system to hack. Just no ones done it on a large scale yet

I wonder how many of the 360 hardware sales were because of people buying their 2nd(or 3rd,5th,11th,) because of RROD?

Snugenz

1,000 duh! We have no proof of it being this. But I say 10 million.

You believe 10 million people are morons who chose to buy a new console when they got RROD instead of getting it repaired for free. You're not a very nice person are you, calling 10million people morons.

Not everyone would be as game savvy to know about the warranty. Maybe just a lil kid telling his mom its broke and she just gets another because they have money like that. Or maybe Nerds who cant wait for it to be fixed and sent back so they just get a new one. I know a thousand scenarios like this that could lead to quite a big edge in sales..just saying....also the fact the RROD was so common in used consoles alot of ppl didnt want to buy them used which means what? they buy it new....which means what? higher hardware sales

Sony.

Seriously..how much of a fanboy do you have to be to say Microsoft?

"I'd rather have my identity stolen than have a defective console which will be fixed at no charge"

slvrraven9

Yea if there was actuallyproof that the stolen info was actually used in some way...last i checked the people that took it just had a bunch of encrypted info they couldnt use or sell...therefore it would beMS for me

its called damage control and if ths info was encrypted then there would be no need for identity theft protection service free for a year...ironic?

no its called ppl being babies. A bunch of ppl crying thinking they deserve something because hackers targeted a company that could have been anyone and same thing would have happen. Hackers have gotten in the Social Sercurity databasese,The Pentagon, And various credit card companies on many different occasions. It could have happent to Microsoft but I promise you they wouldnt have gave nobody free 1 year protection. Now besides a select few that it would have happent to anyway theres no proof at all that the encrypted info was useable. Microsoft knowingly and willingly sold bad hardware though. I dont know how ppl can say thats not bad cuz thats just proof they dont care about the customersandknow theyll still buy their stuff..At least Sony was attacked outside their control...Microsoft attacks its own customers and apparently they love it.
