I was born in 1990 so I was well aware of the original show's existence, but I was a bit young to ever truly get into it or appreciate it. By the time I hit an age where I would be interested in it the show had basically finished. Thus I never watched more than a few episodes of the X files even though the general concept sounds amazingly awesome to me.
I have waaaaay too many backlisted shows to consider watching all 9 seasons of the original X files. I am hoping to find a well written synopsis of each season or something though. I really want to watch this "tenth" season.
@lostn: I think you are overestimating the basic experience. At its essence, it's headgear that lets you be more immersed and look around in the game world. You use an xbox controller to play games. You aren't doing flips and spinning around. You are basically sitting on your chair and using a controller...
Yes there are some companies out there developing special equipment that allows you to stand up and walk and track your movement and such, but that isn't in the basic scope of Oculus or any other vr headset.
TL;DR; You sit there in your chair and use a 360 controller. You aren't running around.
@wilson_diabetes: There's several logical reasons for this.
1. This battle was already fought and lost. Just like the battle to ban pornogrpahy and such. I assure you that as movies became mainstream people tried very hard to get actual legal bans on violent movies. Nowadays the MPAA is much too powerful and well funded to allow anyone to get actual traction on banning violent movies.
2. BECAUSE the battle for movies was fought and lost, those people basically moved onto the next possible option. That was essentially video games. Plus the argument is that since kids are interacting with the violence, they are being influenced by it. Which on the surface has a bit more logic to it than just simply watching violence on screen.
@leimonides I've already seen at least 8 topics on gamefaqs asking if the game was going to be in japanese only. So I'd go as far as saying that the disclaimer was not clear enough because there are incredibly dumb people out there.
@galeta Huh? The "real world" storyline is extremely simple and not hard to follow at all. A few paragraphs could sum up all the important details from AC1-now.
The in-animus stories are all separate things for the most part. So I really don't understand what you are talking about. This isn't some 6000 page religious text in a foreign language that requires decades of study to even begin to understand, it's a relatively simple plotline for a mediocre series.
