@everson_rm: Ha, thanks! One of my favorite games of all time, good on you for noticing! As for Bulletstorm, it's dumb fun, but fun. Good pacing and a story doesn't overstay it's welcome, balancing comedic with some surprising serious moments. Great action and the kill/point system makes for fun personal challenges and a refreshing take on traditional FPS qualities. It made me smile a lot, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for over $20-30, which make it the perfect kind of "free" game to kill some time with!
@KBABZ: Everything about your post is perfectly on point. Rather than making me feel like I'm a "lesser gamer" by not being a 100+ hour completionist on games full of, quite frankly, too much stuff, I'd rather a game toss me 30 hours of perfectly paced, rich and fulfilling content.
Hollow Knight for $10 is a steal, for how much depth, quality, charm and polish it has. $15 full price is a steal. It's big enough to push $40 easy, especially since the devs are constantly adding free, impactful content. Anyone dabbling in platformers, metroidvanias or even Souls games owes themselves a crack at this gem.
As an aging gamer, trying to balance work, family, a social life and more, my gaming time has been limited lately, so the portability of the Switch has been fantastic to let me still engage in a lifelong pastime, and more importantly, both of these games have been at the top of the list. Similar yet different, playable in bite-sized chunks or long term, they're fantastic! Do yourself a favor and try them out!
Awesome! These were great games in their own. They were overshadowed a little by the collect-em-all's made by Rare for the Nintendo 64, but I thought they were great fun. Vibrant graphics, pretty good controls for early 3D, great sound design. Cool that people can check them out this long later!
Played this on Wii U, and lemme tell ya, the amazing soundtrack by David Wise is worth the price of admission by itself. Music isn't talked about much anymore it seems, but this holds up to the one of the best previous soundtracks in the series, DKC2. I liked this game quite a bit, and much more than DKC Returns, and I'm stoked more people can try it out!
Those first few notes reminded me of Chrono Trigger and I started to get some chills...I mean, it's the same composer, and I'm beyond stoked for a new Xenoblade game, but damnit, lol...just, damnit...
Loved FTL! Looking forward to this. As some have mentioned below, definitely rings of Pacific Rim meets Advance Wars meets Front Mission, all of which has me on board. Excited to check it out!
