Danny, it's readily apparent that you give a damn about this industry and a pastime we all clearly enjoy, and I want to thank you for putting up a feature, The Point, that is easily the number one reason I come to this site now. Weeding through a torrent of comments and articles that promote flaming, trolling, and general pessimism towards a lifestyle I enjoy and the community I have grown fond of, it's refreshing to see someone who gets it, the point.

Games are supposed to be fun, there is no need for the amount of misguided negativity that people, media or otherwise, seem to fling at one another (the recent console launches have been unreal), so it's nice to see someone with a voice use that voice for thoughtful issues and commentary, without belittling those of differing opinions. The "it's the internet, deal with it," mentality is exhausting, and I have to question why or how people who think that way got into the fun of games to begin with. I take solace in knowing that I'm not alone, as several comments and contributors have shown.

My long-winded way of saying that you could easily host your one award show, and whether or not you did, there are several gamers like me who look forward to The Point. Cheers.

Dark Souls II is my most anticipated title in the near future by far. I would also recommend Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, as both are amazing games with tons of replayability.

Also, while I never found it to be of quite the same caliber, I really enjoyed Dragon's Dogma, which is a great medieval fantasy action/rpg similar to the Souls franchise, and if you want to get accustomed to dying repeatedly in a fun way, I would recommend brushing up on Rogue Legacy or Spelunky, great games that teach you to be a better player, not through trickery, but through skill.

@meatz666 @blackbeltjones Ha, fair enough. Also, great avatar...I don't really think of myself as a fanboy, but I'd be lying if I wouldn't buy a console on day one if it came with a new Legacy of Kain, even if it got a 4.

@blackbeltjones @Oloryn Exactly, there are many 4's and 5's that hit what I was looking for perfectly and had fun with, I think I just get amused knowing that scores like this tend to douse some of the outrageous flames running rampant before a launch. I can't wait until a year from now when everyone has found their machine of choice and focuses on the fun, rather than why they aren't buying the other one.

I'm not going to bash a game that some people may still be excited for, to each their own...but it entertains me to see this kind of a score, because of all the hype many fans had given this game prior to even playing it. "You don't want an XOne?!?! But it comes with Ryse!" And the PS4 came with Knack, the PS3 came with Lair, the 360 with...actually, the 360, while not having killer games had some great mediocre ones. Just because a game exists and is showcased in ads doesn't mean it will be worth buying a console for. As history shows, the launch window rarely showcases a consoles strengths and leaves many gamers underwhelmed. I'm used to it. I'll wait until the great games show up for the PS4 or XOne before making a decision, as right now I'm entertained with my PC, PS3, 3DS and have been admittedly eyeing the WiiU, now that the new Mario dropped and is getting rave reviews.

That being said, I say that if this game still interests you, forget the scores and pick it up. Be your own gamer.

Console wars crack me up...I remember when it was Nintendo vs. Sega, and the flames of fanboyism ran hot and fierce, even permeating into the commercials (Genesis does what Nintendon't)...and yet today, it doesn't matter, just like this won't matter a handful of years down the road either.

I follow the games. My preferences have always been Nintendo and Sony games, but I appreciate some great Microsoft games, and my PC is geared for gaming as well. If a console has a game I want, I save up and I get it. If people enjoy games on a console I don't own, good for them, I'm glad we all share in the fun.

@BelaidKL @garywood69 Actually a pretty massive library of great 3DS games over the past year or so, and many of them have demos to check out. Some favorite personal picks of mine would be Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem and even Animal Crossing is solid, if you're into that style of casual game. I'm also a personal fan of the Monster Hunter series, but that could go either way depending on your tastes, so I might check a demo. Also, there's the new Zelda coming out in 2 months, which looks to be a return to the classic SNES form as a follow up to A Link to the Past. In any case, sounds like you can't go wrong with Pokemon. Best of luck, and good gaming!

GTA V's version of Undead Nightmare with potential multiplayer support could be some rad DLC. Excited to see what they have coming either way.
