i knew from the beginning hd-dvd would lose, the entertainment industry usually goes for the medium that holds more info, when i heard how much bluray holds i figured they would win, i still bought the hd-dvd attachment though, i just dont like bluray for one reason or another, and a week after they annouced hd-dvd dead, i went to frys and got all my favorite movies the most expensive being 16.99, i figure dvds are still going to be around for a good while, and i dont buy alot of movies anyways so if i really want one, i do have a very good upscaler so i figure im happy for the time being

well most companies do this and its actually better, believe me, with all the things that can go wrong on pcb's as complex as whats in the 360, it can take forever to troubleshoot a 360 unit, its much faster, cheaper, and safer to send an already refurb unit thats been tested then if you run through all the components, check boards to see if they are repairable, fixing any other damage that might have occured, its very rare that a company will send you back the same model, theres acceptions though

as odd as it sounds, hd-ready does not mean hdtv, it may only be a standard definition, with ntsc/atsc tuner with clear QAM, even with component in, it may only be progressive scan which is 480p, hope that helps a bit

haha well now it definitely sounds like shorts and opens are the problem, but yeah it sounds like its been through rough times, seems very loyal, i would probably have obsessively clutch mine had the screen not partially died the way it did, and if you are considering trading in the psp, eb will charge you and take that amount from trade in value since it is damaged, maybe you can pass it off for a little more then what they offer to someone else, and since as an ex eb/gamestop employee i really wouldnt recommend them to anyone for trade-ins or reservations as they always haggle you for numbers, they emphasize numbers way too much, cost me my job because i just refused to pressure customers who didnt know any better (they actually track all reservations, trade-ins and subscriptions per employee and judge your performance there as opposed to how well you deal with customer or knowledge and experience in games), actually some pawn shops offer more for trade-ins then eb/gamestop or gamecrazy, then theres smaller mom and pop style game shops that will offer more for trade-ins as well, sry i tend to distract myself a bit

its not so much that they run faster but they have a precache option for that 64megs of ram, drops load time alot and reduces the umd drive to have to spin up and read so often which means longer lifespan for umd drive

i heard that the volume issues is because of the mic which is why you supposed to use that control adapter that sony sells, not sure though, i havent used skype on psp myself but ive set it up for friends psp's and ive been able to trouble shoot every problem they've had so far mostly because its always a pc issue affecting the psp not a psp issue itself

you mean a usb wifi adapter?? anything that can be set up as a hotspot should work but the psp does have compatibility issues with certain wifi chipsets, im thinking the firmware updates have covered most of popular ones already since i havent had an issue in a long time now, hope that helped

edit: sorry, i forgot to mention skype's website has a list of ports that if blocked should be unblocked in the firewall, they should have a how to somewhere on the site or atleast mention what ports are used
