Really? It could play FPS's that look 3 times better than Metroid Prime? What about Command and Conquer? How about Rage? Let's reverse your claim: Anything from Apple can play games beyond current handhelds level. Next?

A really crappy MMO with horrible visuals, and an FPS in where you cannot move and stand still. -_-

[QUOTE="Omni-Gamer-"][QUOTE="Ontain"]the problem with using your phone to play "good" games is that they will drain your battery really fast. that's not something you want to do to your phone. they are good for playing less intensive games like bejeweled though. by contrast you can play for several hours with a DS. I mean stuff like mario kart, zelda not just 2d stuff.Richymisiak

I'm not sure if you know, but the iDevices have amazing battery life. You're not understanding: There are FAR more 3D games on the iPhone/iPod now than the DS. And those 3D games can be played for up to five to six hours before having to plug in. When not playing games, the devices last up to 12 hours.

sentence i never thought it was possible to say and be serious

Engadget: "The battery life on the iPhone 4 has been outstanding thus far, exceeding our expectations for longevity during testing. We've only had a short time to use the phone, but in the week or so we've been carrying the device as our main phone, we've had pretty amazing results under normal to heavy use. In fact, we managed to squeeze more than 38 hours - yes, 38 hours - of life out of a single charge using the phone as we normally would. We're talking calls, some gaming, lots of push email and calendar invites, playing music over Bluetooth in the car, and just general testing (like downloading new apps, rearranging icons, tweaking settings). We went from 10:30AM on a Saturday morning till 1:00AM on Monday without needing to charge the phone. Of course, it switched itself off just after the clock struck 1, but it was thrilling - like that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer and the car salesman see how far they can get in a car with the tank on E. Sitcom references aside, the battery life seems markedly improved in the iPhone 4, and why not? It's got a much larger battery coupled with that iPad-powering A4, which has already shown that it can sip rather than gulp power."

What FPS on the Ipod looks better then metroid prime? let alone 3 times better.

Well.. For starters... Look at Rage

[QUOTE="Omni-Gamer-"]

The iPod/iPhone are the same thing. They both play the same games.

The iPod/iPhone not only has a lot of the same games as the DS, but they cost 1/4th of the price as well to download. Assassins creed 1 and 2 scored higher on the iPod/iPhone than their DS counterparts due to better graphics and added extras, yet it only cost 5 dollars to download. GTA Chinatown wars also scored higher on the iPhone due to sharper graphics and faster loading times, yet only costs 9 dollars to download. Cooking Mama is the same game on the iPhone, yet also costs a fraction of its cartridge based DS counterpart.

Square Enix has an EXCLUSIVE final fantasy game on the iPhone called Chaos Rings, it looks better than Final Fantasy 8.

SEGA is releasing Sonic 4, WITH EXCLUSIVE iPhone/iPod levels and content. No other system is receiving exclusive levels and/or content.

Epic has revealed a new game called Project Sword, and ID is releasing Rage, both are games that exceed even the PSP graphics by a long shot.

The iPhone/iPod have built in accelerometers, gyroscopes, GPS, microphones, forward and rear facing cameras and a multi-touch screen to accomodate gaming features.

Nintendo at their E3 presentation in their own words have chosen to ignore Sony and Microsoft and are now focusing on competing with Apple. Those are their own words.

Apple snuck into the gaming industry through the backdoor, and the biggest videogame company in the world has recognized them as a bigger threat than Sony.

Irregardless of the iPhone being a phone, and the iPod being a music player, they have evolved into something that millions of gamers are now enjoying. They are do-it-all devices that also happen to have games that rival the DS and PSP, and in some cases, even outperform.

FireEmblem_Man

I have yet seen comments of Iwata stating Apple as a competitor.

Too bad gaming is like its fifth function and it has no games

Wall of pics

Is that supposed to be impressive?

When a phone with gaming as its supposed "5th function" can display better graphics than a dedicated handheld like the DS and PSP and have vastly more game developer support: yes. It's supposed to be impressive

that s because 360 owneres are busy playing games this fall, as opposed to Cows who bash the 360 and its games on a now Hourly basis.

check your calendar dude..its September 14th. Halo Reach AKA THE BIGGEST GAME OF 2010 just dropped.

AND ITS ONLY ON XBOX 360.... so we really dont have time to think about LBP2 or whatever else is dropping on my dust collector called PS3, ( YES I OWN ONE TOO..GREAT BLU RAY PLAYER THOUGH..)

who on earth cares abour LBP 2?

bryn8150

You're still on that Halo crap? Halo 2 had me raise an eyebrow, Halo 3 made me vomit. Get off your highhorse and play a REAL fps. MW2 or BC2. Halo... Seriously? That series was turned to crap by a developer that couldn't evolve with the times. I'm sure Halo: Reach is just the same.

As for Little Big Planet, there are TOO few games that a father can play with his daughter and have a grand time the whole entire day. LBP was the SOLE reason why I bought my PS3, and the ONLY game I have for it, and the ONLY game I currently play (that's a lie, I still do MW2 and Starcraft 2). That speaks volumes. It's one of the three games I've been playing for the past year
