No, its not. Not at all actually. Where Samus was once alone 100% of the time in previous Prime games she is thrust into a living world with talking people :o
The last few hours of Metroid Prime 3 are so far from a traditional Prime game it's not even comparable. But that is not to say that it strays away from it's roots a lot, but there are moments when it really does feel like a highly polished FPS game, which isn't bad at all, it really just adds versatility to the title.
Also, since people are complaining that Prime 3 = Prime 2... I better hear the same for Halo 3, because even less has changed there, and it's still going to be a great game.
