Great Songs I have Discovered in Music Games...Cult of Personallity

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ5SVDYBNrY Discovered in Guitar Hero 3 Hey, since my time has been a little short recently I thought I would introduce these little bite sized blogs looking at a few of my favourite songs I've encountered in music games. :0 This one is by a funk metal band called Living Colour (with a 'u' I'm proud to say :P ) and could quite possibly have my favourite solo in a music game. It's fantastically energetic with great guitar work and a powerful vocalist. Enjoy! :)

Christmas List! (2009)

EyePet (PS3) (Game & Magic Card) NO Playstation eye! Katamari Forever (PS3) Tekken 6 (PS3) PlayStation Network Pre Paid Cards Scribblenauts (DS) Lego Rock Band (PS3) Rock Band: The Beatles - Wireless Gretsch Duo Jet Guitar Controller (PS3) - External Hard drive that's a least 320GB Kinda small compared to the last few years really :P I'm also thinking about Boarderland and Dragon Age. What do you guys think? :)

Tagged and the Time is Melting!!

Well, it appears Yagr_Zero as tagged me in this ten facts game. I'm hardly one the ruin the fun so here it is, Though I'm only going to do 5. Why? Because it was hard enough writing that :P. 1. I am ever so mildly Autistic. Though I think it barley affects me. I do have the occasional session of bad concentration and I do have a few habits that it would probably help me the kick (wear something other than a T-shirt? MADNESS! :P ) But other than that I say I'm pretty normal :). Now if you excuse me I'm off to lick that tree... 2. I have freakishly flexible legs. As people who don't know me comment about quite often. :P When I sit down I often go into what people call 'the yoga position' subconsciously without realizing, it seem really comfortable to me but generally people say it doesn't look comfortable :P 3. I have played Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon...it is as bad as the internet says it is. The controls are so bad I can't even get past the first stage :( 4. While on a jog I was once chased out of a caravan park by a pack of dogs. I don't not run by caravan parks anymore. Though I have to admit, it was the fastest I've even run on a jog. :D 5. I appear to have become a Facebook addict. Perhaps it's because it easy to make contact with old friends on it or maybe it's just because I'm bored but I've found myself checking it several times a day recently. Is this wrong or normal? You can give a sigh of relief I'm not going to tag anybody. :) ----------------------------------------------------------------- This has got to be a record for how long I've been without a blog. Uni has been a hell of a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be. The only thing I've been able to keep up with is the blogs of all you guys and considering my first assignments are due within the next two weeks I don't think I'm going to improve anytime soon. I wish I could be around more but I just don't have the time at the mo. I've barely played any games since I arrived at the uni! As a result I think I'm going to throw in the towel as a mod soon, because I've done close to nothing with the role as of late. I've got no lectures next week so I should be able to get some stuff done then...but after that?... Anyway, GAMES! As I said I haven't been playing too much but I have been able to complete Brutal Legend. Overall I say it's a pretty damn good game (great game if your into heavy metal :P ). I've always liked to explore the landscape in games like this and Brutal Legend doesn't have some very eye catching scenery. I wish the whole RTS thing was a little more intuitive but it does the job...I did beat the game on brutal with it so it isn't too bad. ;) Also, Rock Band in dorms = AWESOMENESS!!! :D That all from me for now. See you on the other side :)...yeah, I know that make no sense. :P

Update of Me

I have to say I was quite surprised as to how many of you asked how I was getting on at uni in my last blog. I thought you would all be tired of me talking about it by now :P. To put it bluntly life has been BUSY! This is of course partly due to the subjects and assignments, I won't go through them. If I'm not interested in information systems I doubt you guys will be. ;) I joined to the uni's drama club in which so far I've met a lot of great people. Though my first part is...um...not what I had in mind. I am the 'fairy of random knowledge' for a play that called the final which one of the girls in the club wrote. Since I'm a fairy will be wearing the wings and tights. I didn't even go in for that role! :( Though when I preformed it with the group yesterday it did get quite a few laughs, although if I have to don fairy wings and tights it BETTER be entertaining. :D The little spare time I have has mostly been used playing Dissidia: Final Fantasy. I quite liked the game to begin with but since then it has grown on me a little more and now I think it's pretty damn great. There are areas in which it could be better ( :cough: story and acting :cough: ) I gotten used to the fighting system now and there is a TON to aim for in the game, kind of reminds me of another 'smashing' game. ;) I think that just about covers it. Again sorry I haven't been around too much. Don't know when I'll get back to my active self again but hopefully it will ease up a little by mid November when most of my assignments are due. In the mean time keep gaming and peace! :) Oh, and I should be getting Brutal Legend tomorrow...sweetness! :D

Anwsers to Question! Super Long! [UPDATE]

Ravenswan32

What's You Favourite Videogame?

The magnificent Final Fantasy 9. Perfect story, great fighting system, likable characters...just all round the game I've most enjoyed playing. I still play through it occasionally and it still remains fantastic...actually, it has been a while :)

Harry Potter or LOTR?

You know what? I don't really like either that much. I've never really like the 'orcs and elves' thing that LOTR does, It just seems very...brown to me. Harry Potter is a bit too goody two shoes of character to me for him to be likeable. Though I'll go with Harry Potter due to fact his adventures are more interesting to me and more colourful. :)

Favourite Character (from Anime, Videogames, Movies...)?

I haven't really watched any anime so I can't really comment on that one. As for the rest...

Favourite game character is Guybrush Threepwood from Monkey Island. This says why better that anything I can put here :)

Favourite movie character is Forrest Gump, The guy has all these great adventures despite having a disability...he's my idol! :D

Anything by Lee Child, as his books are the only ones I've read besides the Harry Potter stuff.

Favorite Food?

:points above:

Dr. Robotink or King Koopa?

Yeah, I don't like calling him Eggman either :P

You know, there both loveable failures, but I grew up with Sonic. So 'Eggman' is my choice :P

The Gizmondo...I just want to see how bad it is. ;)

What's that swirly avatar thing about :D

Juniorpower

What is your favourite food recipe?

Umm...I don't really know how to cook (something that doesn't make me popular in hall) so I don't really know a lot. Apparently on some Japanese show there is a dish you can make which has toothpaste in it. I guess I'd go with that. :D

hank_101

What's your favourite: game system?

PS1, so many fond memories of that system including Final Fantasy 9! :D

Video game?

:points to top answer:

Color?

It's 'colour' by the way :P

spazzx625

 No it not, I've said the reasoning behind my username above...though to be fair you theory sounds much better ;)

NailBail

Pro choice or pro life?

Umm...not 100% sure what your asking here...

If a tree falls and no one's around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Why does everyone think this is so Zen? OF COURSE IT MAKES A SOUND!! It still makes sound waves whether there is anybody there to hear it or not! Geez

It's not really a subject but my favourite thing to do at school...is perform! :makes a grand gesture:

Who's your favourite actress?

I think I got this question the last time I did this and I could think of an answer then. :P. Err...Natalie Portman?

What's your favourite place to go or visit one day?

Japan! Looks like such a great country with lots of fascinating aspects...plus I want to try curry flavoured lemonade! :D

Yagr_Zero

Do you pick it or lick it?

I pick it...but I really do think there is something wrong with you if you lick it ;)

Apples or oranges?

Apples, because A. they taste better and B. you van eat it straight away without having to peel it.

Angels or Red Sox?

However much I like my comfy red socks I think we need angels in heaven so I would have to go with...what? American football teams? What are those?

If you were asked by a giant floating head to save the world, what would you do?

:sigh: I should have known I'd get my own questions.

Well, the first thing I would do is ask where they keep all there power armour and weapons and then equip myself with so much firepower it would make a Metal Gear jealous.

Then I would fly straight to the enemies base and blow it up. Seriously why don't the Power Rangers ever do that? They have Megazords (TM) and the base doesn't seem very well protected

What colour Power Ranger would you be?

Magenta FOOL! :D

Would you use a random number generator?

Perhaps...if there was a situation when I'd have to make the choice :P

Garfield360UK

Frasier or Cheers?

I have seen nether. :P

ER or Scrubs?

Scrubs because it is the only one I have seen. I play games with most of my time rather than TV you know? :P

Who will win the FIFA World Cup next year?

England of course! Hey, we may not have won it in over 40 years but this time I'm feeling lucky! :D

Cats or Dogs?

I've developed a slight fear of dogs since I started jogging so I'm going to go for cats. Dogs really do like to bark as you go past

Top 5 programs you like on TV?

Hmm...lets see:

1.24

2. The Simpson (might not be as good as it was but it still hold a place :) )

3. Scrubs

4. Mock the Week (A fantastic British comedy show :) )

5. Top Gear (Ambitious but rubbish! :P )

Blu Ray - a thing of greatness or epically over priced or both?

Well, they seem to be of pretty good quality, but until they put Forrest Gump on Blu-Ray I won't be buying anymore. ;)

dan_scfc

Next game you are going to buy?

Brutal Legend! Can't wait for it. I've played the demo and from what I've seen the world is fantastic and it's seems extremely funny. Soon it will be time to mosh! :D

katamari

If you had to drink coffee what brand would you drink?!

Err...if I knew any coffee brand

Also, if you could be a woman, who would you be?!

 Err...too early in the morning for that question...:looks round...whispers: Keria knightly :walks away whistling:

ehsan8888

If you can be a character, who would you be?

Hell yeah! :D

Thank you all for questions. Hope you didn't fall asleep at the end. :P

See ya!

[UPDATE]BTW for the people that asked how I was getting on at uni I didn't not forget you. I'm just saving it for another blog. I thought you might have wanted a break from my uni rants :P

Rock Band vs Rock Bands

Lately there been a lot of Rock Stars piling hate on the music game genre, saying things like 'it prevents people from playing real guitar' and it's 'It's shame kids are learning about music this way'. I've been thinking about doing a kind of 'counter rant' blog to this for a while now but quite frankly This article is better than anything I could write and the subject, so check it out if you want a good opinion piece on the subject. I find it sad that so many musicians and getting up in arms that the music games are going to stop people from learning instruments. It's just not true. It's got me more interested in a lot of different music and I did actually try and play guitar briefly (just didn't have the patience though :P ) and a friend of mine is learning Guitar because of it. As the article points out sampling was met with a similar reaction...and did that stop people from learning to play if they wanted to? ;)

I Me Mine

I'm not feeling at my most creative at the moment, so I think I'm going to do an 'Ask Me Anything' blog. Hoping I won't get anything like what Darthzew posted last time :P Hopefully I'll be able to write about something a be more substantal later (I got an idea or two in head ;) ). But unitl then I command thee to ask!

Good Old Mr Domino!

Look at that cute face! :P This blog is here just to let you guys know I'm still alive. A gaming blog coming I swear!

You Say Goodbye and I Say Hello

Tomorrow is the day I'm going to start moving into uni. So my time on the site (or games for that matter) won't be as frequent as usual I'm sure. In fact at this point in time I'm not even sure I'll have internet access on day one. :( On the hand I may be really bored at uni and spend more time here...I really don't know how this is going to go. :? Overall I'm both looking forward to and dreading moving into halls. Everything is going to be so different but I think it will a be great to move out of the house...right? Also, do you guys think Rock Band might interest people in my halls? ;) oh, and I won't ask you yet again to tell me what your uni experiences were, don't worry. :P I'll still be around here and there though (wouldn't miss a crazy Katamari blog for the world :P) I just may be around a little less than usual. :) Hope you guys have a great week and wish me luck! :D UPDATE: To make this blog a little more upbeat...

Do You Want to Know a Secret?

Is it just me or have I been using a lot of Beatles songs for blog titles recently. :D

Anyways, here's a quick rundown about what I thought was good and bad about The Beatles: Rock Band.

The Good Stuff

It's been well documented that the presentation of the game is excellent, so I won't comment anymore on that because I perfectly agree. :P As for how it plays well...it's pretty much Rock Band, and that game plays pretty damn well so this should too. ;) One difference is that of vocal harmonies in which up to three people can sing and harmonise the same song. When I tried it out with a few friends it was pretty fun although it is quite difficult...we absolutely murdered Yellow Submarine

Some people have said the game is not very challenging and while difficulty isn't as some the harder Rock Band songs I have noticed that it is hard to get stars in The Beatles: Rock Band. There were times when after I finished a song that I felt that Rock Band 2 would have given me that extra star. Also, if your an achievement/trophy whore like myself there are challenges which are next to impossible (100% the drum track on Helter Skelter in expert!? ARE YOU MAD!?), They have kept me trying for now. But of course this does make the game friendly to newbie's...although that said I'd say all band games are...as long as you don't go straight to Painkiller or something :P

I also like the kind of 'history unlockables' you get as you play through. Now I love unlockables (one of the reasons I love Smash Bros so much) and I think it adds a lot to game...here hoping we see something similar in Rock Band 3 ;)

Lastly there is a great selections of tracks to play, though I personally preferred the later tracks in the game myself. Some of my favourites are below.

Back in the USSR

Helter Skelter

I Me Mine

While my Guitar Gently Weeps

I am the Walrus

Sgt Pepper/With a Little Help from my Friends

Hey Bulldog

The Not So Good Stuff

My biggest complaint is amount of songs on the disc. 45 songs for a £39.99 game? I got 82 the last time I paid that. :? It's 'The Beatles' is not an excuse either. For a full priced music game title more songs should have been put on the track list. Also, and this is a very minor grip, I would have liked to have seen something more dramatic happen when you fail a song. Like the Beatles getting booed off stage or getting fired from the studio. There would have probably been quite a few issues with Apple corps if they did that but if my Rock Band 2 band can fail I want The Beatles to fail! MUHAHAHA!!

Conclusion

In the End (pun intended) this is Rock Band with a new presentation and iconic Beatles tracks...which while I think are a little too few are of high quality in my opinion. Overall I like the game but because it's not as good a value as Rock Band 2 I simply don't consider it as good. Of course if you a Beatles fanatic then you won't really care. :P

Till next time!
