It doesn't cut through, it only makes hole in the metal, whereas the other laser actually sliced through the metal, and you saw how it fell.
As others have said, there are lasers that are being used to cut through metal. I imagine they could cut through you.

You can carry lasers that start stuff on fire, pop ballons, and light up clouds. Its really cool.
Yeah, that's cool, but it's remotely weak compared to those lasers that aren't slow and cut through things without making sound or start them on fire.

example halo 3 is a game to make someone buy the 360. uncharted 2 was not, but a great game. mgs4 was the same and god of war 3 will be like halo 3 and mgs4

God of War doesn't come close to Halo, unfortunately. Neither does MGS.
