PC gamer also gave Dragon Age 2 a 94 and reviewed it BEFORE it went gold (so a paid review). Their credibility is zero.

You totally know your facts!
If not I'll trust my gut to make the decision to buy or not. I don't go by someones arbitrary or subjective score. Just sayin'.

I think that's exactly how it should be. I am more concerned about knowing the technical faults of the game, rather than how strong the story is. I think its really a waste of time how reviews dedicate a lot of time to review the story of the game. Really, it doesn't matter! Just as long as the mechanics are fine.
Based on the scores I read in this thread, I'm starting to understand how PCGAMER give their score, and that is based on the pre-release hype/popularity of the games:
- Portal 2 - tons of hype, Portal 1 was popular amongst the community - so they gave it a high score ( I personally thinks it's going to be awesome )
- DA2 - tons of hype, DA1 was popular amongst the community - so they gave it a high score ( didn't like the first or the second )
- FarCry2 - some hype, FarCry1 was popular amongst the community - so they gave it a good score ( loved the first, found the second had few redeeming qualities )
- CODBO - hype from Activision campaigns only, previous games hated ( by the louder part of the community, the others were busy playing :) ) - so they gave it a bad score
From those scores alone PCGAMER seems like a "follow the herd" kind of reviewer.

I hardly think that's fair. Gamespot gave a very high score to CODBO, does that mean they follow a certain section of the gaming population? Does that mean they were bribed? Well probably. Gamespot is a little bit like Fox news. Like to call them fair and balanced :P
However, I don't think any review is "wrong". Its an opinion of one person only, the person who reviewed it. Just because you don't agree with it, does not mean they are bribed and have no credibility.
They gave CoD Black Ops 60%, and I completely agree with that.
We've played and reviewed Portal 2 and awarded it 94 and an Editor's Choice award. The review appears in the latest issue of PC Gamer US, and the June issue of PC Gamer UK, on-sale May 11.
Why did it get that score and the prestigious award? We described it as "hilariously well-written and acted", "full of thrilling showcase moments" and "some of the most social gaming you'll have." We basically think it's outstanding.
Check the site when Portal 2 is released for our full review, catch up on the Potato Sack ARG, or read our most recent preview for more. You can subscribe to PC Gamer US here and PC Gamer UK here.PC GAMER

I am NOT reading this. I am just getting the game.

PC gamers didn't buy crysis 2 because it was a consolized piece of garbage.
Look at all the games that do poorly on PC compared to the console counterpart and you find that the reason is because it's a consolized piece of trash.
PC gamers are connoisseurs, much like wine enthusiasts, we know what is good and what isn't and we won't throw our money at a bad batch.

+1, I was going to buy it until I played the demo and heard that the full version wasnt any better. They pretty much sold us out.... and we've shown that few of us are willing to buy it.
Yay! And we won! they made a PC exclusive game, and we showed them what a terrible idea that is by endlessly complaining about it, and now they released a multiplatform, and we give them more reasons to not stick to the PC! Good job PC Gamers!
Lets see.....
1. Kings Bounty the Legend (70+ hours in and still no dice finishing it)
2. Kings Bounty: Armored Princess+ crossworlds expansion(probably same investment time as the above : (
3. Starcraft II: Campaign. I finished it on normal but i'm hellbent on finishing it on hard mode
4. Shogun 2: Total War. Must finish blasted Shimazu campaign >_>
5. Darskiders. Still 2-3 missions to go.
6. battlefield Bad Company 2 (need to actually start playing. Haven't touched it since i bought it during christmas holidays)
7.Burnout Paradise (also another game i left half finished)
8. Deus Ex: Need to get around to playing that game. Haven't touched it since i bought it.
9. Empire: Total War. Need to finish a campaign on that thing to justify having bought it.
10. GTA IV: Also need to finish it since i'm so close to actually finishing
11. Men of War: Rerd Tide. Need to start playing this. Haven't gotten around to playing this either.
12. Neverwinter Nights Platinum: Beat the vanillagame. Now need to beat all the expansions.
13. STALKER. Haven't touched it since i bought it way back in 09.
14. Civ IV. Only got like maybe 13 hours in. Need to play more.
15. Civ V. Got a niggling need to play every civ in there no matter what despite 70+ hours already invested into playing the game.
16. Star Wars Empire at War. Need to get around to beating at least one campaign. Not in the mood for more.
17. Supreme Commander 2. Will play but only with the revamp mod.
18. Titan Quest. Need to finish the game that me and my little sister are playing. : S
19. Unreal Tournament 3. I bought the game and i wan't my moneys worth. So i'll just log in like another 20 hours into the game to get some value out of buying the bloody thing.
20. Age of Empires III. Started playing the campaign. Like it enough on moderate difficulty to want to finish it.
21. Stronghold Crusader. Want to beat the campaigns for that game as well.
22. Infamous. Not a PC game but I'll count it to my backlog along with Uncharted 2 and Resistance 2.
23. Total War Kingdoms. Need to beat one of the campaigns to get moneys worth out of it. Currently pre-occupied with an Orc campaign in a warhammer mod though.
24. Dawn of Discovery. Liked the game but didn't get very far campaign wise.
