I think so. When the Wii U launches it will have the best console multiplatform games that are released for it. If a multiplat is released for the Wii U there's a really high chance that it will be the best console version overall. What do you think of that system wars?

GameboyTroy
Not a chance. PS4 Already has next gen sealed in the bag with great games like MGS5, the next FF, Ridge Racer, VF6, Resistance 3, KillZone 4, Lair 2, Heavenly Sword 2, the next Demon Souls, God of War 4 etc. Mark my words, Wii U will be a total flop, and so will the next Xbox.

i like things about the ps3. A couple of games and that it plays blu rays. Everything else i can do without or hate mems_1224

I mean I do have preference (for X360 mainly due to the controller and secondly due to online), but otherwise, unlike many from both fan sides, I don't hate one just because I prefer the other.

I really like both of them a lot and don't think there is much difference between the two platforms. Both have plently of the same genres tailored for hardcore gamers' taste.

So do you happen to own and like both? and what are the pros and cons you find in each?

.

My pros for each are:

PS3

Extremely high quality first party titles with engaging single player storyline and superior graphics on any console when devs take advantage of the hardware. Elegantly designed interface (XMB). Very reliable hardware (still on my launch 60GB PS3). Also SONY takes commendable risk on extremely interesting new IPs.

.

X360

Brilliant controller design + superior online + slightly better performing multiplats.

.

And my cons for each are:

PS3

Bad triggers design and thumbsticks layout (exacerbated by not having good alternative 3rd party controllers). Subpar online, or at least used to be (had many online issues with PSN back in the day, but the last time I played online on my PS3 was when LBP came out, so maybe it's better now).

.

X360

Horrendous hardware quality prior to slim models. Really bad dashboard design (getting worse in every revision). Repetitive first party IPs, MS is playing it safe and not taking risks with new interesting IPs like SONY seems to be doing for quite a while now. Shift of focus to more casual and media streaming than hardcore games.

Xbox 360 Pros - none Cons - rrod, price: 360 + 5 years Xbox live + rechargeable batteries + hd DVD player = around $800; bad games PS3 Pros - price, the Cell, power, style, controllers, best games AAAAE MGS4, AAAE uncharted, etc, FREE online Cons - Eats a lot of my time

I believe Sony, as a company, are not exactly in a good position to finance a fully new system. Sure, the PS3 and PSP sold well enough and the Vita didn't say the last word yet, but I highly doubt Sony are in a position where they could make a "very powerful" system that would launch anytime soon (supposedly late 2013 like some rumours suggest). I think it's much more likely they'll stick only with the PS3 and Vita for quite a while, still. There's not much reason for a fully new system if they're still pumping out quality exclusives. It's not like they're competing with the enthusiast PC gaming market and if the competition doesn't show something mind-blowing, there's not really a reason for a fully new system.

What you think?

nameless12345
Absolutely. PS3 was an enormous success, so the question should be can Sony NOT afford the PS4. Sony pockets are deeper than ever, so I wouldn't worry about their ability to develop the next most powerful console ever. Like Sony said, next gen starts when they say so.

In bold...fail. It will always be exclusive to Microsoft. Plus MGS 5, the FF series, & Ridge Racer will most likely be multiplat with 360, 720, & Wii U from now on. And Killzone & Resistance? LMAO, nobody cares about those games.

Plus I got to laugh if you honestly think that Sony is going to take more huge losses off of each PS4 console sold just to please fanboys like you. They won't. Sony is going to most likely go the Wii route by using off the shelf, lower cost parts in order to make a profit off of each PS4 console being sold (meaning, PS4 won't be incredibly powerful as you may think).

Shinobi120

Dead wrong. Wii has a large install base (mostly young casual gamers) and Sony knows they can't compete on that ground. Besides, it would be foolish to follow a gimmicky gameplan like that of Nintendo. Let them please the kids and leave the serious gaming to Sony. They know they need flashy hardware and power to win the console war. Free online and reliable hardware will propel them past Xbox 3.

LOL, you keep thinking that. Sony already tried what you said with the PS3 with "more power," & it didn't work out well for them. Plus "casuals" far outweigh "hardcores." And you can bet that Sony will start charging for online play once PS4 comes around.

Wrong again. Not charging for gaming gives them a huge advantage. Why PS3 didn't live up to its potential is the fact they created a processor too advanced for programmers, Xbox came out a year earlier, and the price was too high. Sony got too cocky, but they are now humble and will deliver a great console for just $349.99 Mark my words or sig it if you like!

LOL. You honestly think that those specs will come very cheap for $300 to $400? Doubt it. Sony can no longer afford to make such huge jumps with PS4 like they did with PS3.

Shinobi120

They'll have to eat quite a bit at first, but they'll do it for market share. With the Halo series going multiplat, MGS5, FF series, Ridge Racer, Killzone, Resistence all lined up with PS4, it's bound to dominate. These specs are semi-official and may be tweaked slightly.

Should Sony go after the delicious casual pie that MS and Nintendo are after or just stick with the hardcore. They will have much to learn from the masters of MS and Nintendo. MS is the ultimate console for both hardcore and casual experiences. They have pretty much every genre and game type for any and everyone. Its just incredible.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich Changes:

  • Smart Stay, which uses the forward-facing camera to determine if you're looking at the phone. You can set time intervals from as little as 15 seconds, which result in a small flashing eye logo in the Android notification bar. If it recognises that your eyes aren't focused on the phone anymore, the screen dims.

  • Direct Call, which will auto-dial a contact if you have their contact details or a message open. By moving the phone to your ear, the proximity sensor; accelerometer and gyroscope all kick into use, and automatically dial the contact's number.

  • Smart Alert, which will make the phone vibrate in your hand and flash an LED if you pick the phone up after a missed call.

  • S Voice, which is a Siri-like voice recognition feature, that you can use to enquire about the weather; take a photo ("Hi Galaxy, please take a photo" to open the camera app, or "cheese" to snap it), and other tasks such as locking the phone, or controlling music. Each demand can be configured by the user.

  • Social Tag, which links photos of friends in your photo gallery to their Facebook or Google+ accounts, using facial recognition.
  • S Beam, which pairs other Galaxy S III phones (and only them, for now) via NFC, shares photos, videos, files or even albums of media over Wi-Fi. If your friend's S III doesn't have Wi-Fi enabled, S Beam will automatically turn that user's Wi-Fi on, and then off.

  • AllShare Cast, which pairs to TVs, laptops or tablets over Wi-Fi, mirroring whatever's on the S III. You can also use the S III as a game controller.

  • PopUp Play, which will literally pop a video out of its player, rendering it in a small thumbnail so you can continue watching while surfing the web or doing other functions on the phone. The thumbnail is movable around the display, even if it's pretty small.

Just wait till the iPhone 5 comes out with its quad core processor, and 1gig of ram to boot. It'll make that phone look like the Wii next to the PS4.

Education is the new Republican enemy. No more free thinking and empirical evidence, just the Bible, rumour and Fox News

Not content with merely waging war on women, Republicans are targeting another enemy of conservatism: education. New Hampshire state Republican Jerry Bergevin recently railed against science and the atheist eggheads who call themselves teachers: "I want the full portrait of evolution and the people who came up with the ideas to be presented. It's a world view and it's godless."

While New Hampshire didn't end up passing Bergevin's anti-evolution law, Tennessee did. Its new statute allows ? even encourages ? teachers to express scepticism toward, as the bill says, "scientific subjects, including, but not limited to, biological evolution, the chemical origins of life, and global warming". The American Institute of Biological Sciences, the National Earth Science Teachers Association, the National Centre for Science Education and all eight of Tennessee's members of the National Academy of Sciences oppose the new law, calling it "miseducation". But what do these no 'count heathen elitist PhD Darwinites know? The government of Tennessee wants you to know they ain't kin to no monkey.

And there you have it: the conservative attitude to knowledge. No reading, no exploration, no empirical evidence, no learning, no free play of ideas. Just rumour, Fox News and the Bible. Why think? It'll just make you unhappy.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2095549/Right-wingers-intelligent-left-wingers-says-controversial-study--conservative-politics-lead-people-racist.html

Here are some facts.

  • Children with low intelligence grow up to be prejudiced
  • Right-wing views make the less intelligent feel 'safe'
  • Analysis of more than 15,000 people

Right-wingers tend to be less intelligent than left-wingers, and people with low childhood intelligence tend to grow up to have racist and anti-gay views, says a controversial new study.

Conservative politics work almost as a 'gateway' into prejudice against others, say the Canadian academics. The paper analysed large UK studies which compared childhood intelligence with political views in adulthood across more than 15,000 people. The authors claim that people with low intelligence gravitate towards right-wing views because they make them feel safe.

Crucially, people's educational level is not what determines whether they are racist or not - it's innate intelligence, according to the academics.

tenaka2

You realize the type of people who typically conduct these studies lean left most of the time? Besides, these types of social studies typically have such a broad definition of "racism" or "homophobic" or "sexist" that it could literally include almost anyone. I have seen these studies done by political sciences and psychologists, and when you look deep you can usually find several flaws in how they measure things in order to make it biased toward what they believe. I say both far right and far left people are morons. That being said, in my life I have to say left wingers are typically the less intelligent whereas businessmen and people who are successful tend to lean right.

You don't seem to realise what an Ad Hominem is.

Why don't you go ahead and point out my ad hominem.
