If you want to play a sports game go outside and actually play the sport, they're just yearly rip-offs of the same game over and over and over and over.......

Gxgear

Spoken like a true non-sports fan, first of all the most important thing thats updated every year is the roster, then the graphics and then of course the gameplay and secondly if developers listened to you we'd all be sitting in front of our really expensive consoles today and playing games that resembled football games like on our old Nintendo or Sega machines. So please, just admit your not a sports fan or a fan of sport games and don't reply to these kinds of posts.

Actually I'm into hockey, just not enough to be hyptonized into purchasing a "new" game that I already own just because they changed the number on it.

You brought up some points that actually grinds my gears on sports games. The roster changes wow sure is hard for companies like EA to change the uniform and/or put new numbers on the back of their jerseys. The graphics looks pretty much identical year after year. And sometimes developers try to be cute and change up the gameplay a little and screws up the whole balance they had perfected a year earlier.

You're a true sports fan? Do you have season tickets to your sports team? Do you travel with the team just so you can catch away games? Don't act all high and mighty just because you happen to be gullible enough to fork over 60 bucks to EA like clockwork.

Actually it has nothing to do with being gullible, in fact i go by reviews first long before i decide if i'm going to buy any title especially sports titles because there rehashed every year, but if it is in fact better than the year before then yes i will buy it. Oh and i love Family Guy too.

And yet Sony is still in 3rd place.

SpinoRaptor24

All your faith and snappy come backs will come to a screeching halt once your 360 goes RROD and it will, then you'll be jumping on Sony's coat tails like all the others in the past have done.

Keep telling yourself that. Even with the RROD problem MS is still beating Sony. Just face it, Sony has failed this gen.

And I have no need for a PS3.

Yeah Ok, i'll tell ya' what, you 360 owners need to fear 2 things, The first is Sony's next price drop, which " WILL " sky rocket PS3 sales The second is the day Sony discontinues and stops all support of the PS2, because those loyal Playstation fans will just move on to the then more affordable PS3. So you can believe what you want but after those two things happen, the gap between 360 and PS3 sales will be nonexistent in fact Sony might even have a slight lead.

the madden series has been literally BUTCHERED on the ps3 while the 360 version is almost completely flawless.

slvrraven9

What the heck are you talking about ? Madden 09 is exactly the same on PS3 as it is on 360, it even finally runs in 60fps, both games got the exact same reviews on IGN and Gamespot. So what's your beef with Madden 09 ?

Sony has already lost this generation - they went from being the number one company in console gaming to scrounging for market share at the bottom of the pile. Even if they surpass Microsoft in total console sales, it won't change their financial, and market, reality.subrosian
This generation is years from being over so how the heck can you say it's a hands down victory for Microsoft already ? 2008 - 09 have already shown Sony's lead taking hold with it's more successful exclusives and price drop, and if Sony does another price drop this year, then it's the 360 that'll be choking on PS3's dust.

yes exactly why people are still buying the more succesful 360, i mean its so obvious everyone who ever sent in there xbox just dropped it and bought a ps3

Oh right it's much smarter, now that the 360 warranties have expired, to pay $150 for a repair on a console that will just keep breaking down over and over again.

[QUOTE="PS3nut"][QUOTE="PS3__360"]yeah,sony screwed up waitin to get it rite and let microsoft jump out da gate 1st even tho da 360 wasnt ready for distribution.ps3 will neva recover even tho its da better console.dam i luv bluraySpinoRaptor24

However Microsoft didn't really take advantage of it's head start, instead they were plagued by hardware failures and Sony capitalized on that. The great game library for Sony is and will continue to build over time, but Microsoft will always be stuck with faulty hardware. That fact won't change, so when a gamer wants the best of both worlds, meaning a good, reliable console and a great library of games, with free online play then they'll realize Sony's PS3 is the thing to have.

And yet Sony is still in 3rd place.

[QUOTE="rgsniper1"]

OK i'll get this out of the way right up front. I don't really care for Sony as a company and while I'm not crazy about MS I do like them more (to bad Peter Moore left).

Anyway, I was just looking through system wars and saw a thread on why the PS3 will beat the 360 this generation (even though the logic behind the post just wasn't there as the figures were all wrong to begin with)... But anyway, I had a thought that to be honest I hadn't even thought about yet.. that being...Sonys whole plan is to out last the other systems.. Iee.. when they are tapped out it's still got plenty of juice in the tank. While I might not totally agree with this, what if it were true? What would happen if things went the way Sony is touting them to be going?

IF the PS3 were to start catching up and overtaking the 360 Microsoft would just release there next console in the next few years. I don't think MS sees the 360 as legitamately lasting near as long as Sony sees the PS3 lasting for. It seems Sony (and there fans)has been banking on the longevity of it's console to come out on top. What if when they finally get there they end up competing with the new Nintendo and MS consoles that have had years and years of tech. advancment and market trending to create the next big thing? Can the ageing PS3 compete with that at that point?

Consoles simply don't last that many years now before technology and pricing makes the market ripe for a new machine, that seems to be totally against what Sony is pushing for. I think both Nintendo and MS now this and therefor they are ahead of the game were Sony is going to be trying to capture a market that has moved on.

Oh, and the fact that my personal opinion is that while the 360 isn't as reliable as the PS3 I personally like the games more. Honestly I have yet to really be swept off my feet by the PS3 exclusives, and am willing to take the less reliable system with the better games. Before you flame me to bad on this last part, it's my personal opinion based on what I like. I know there's you MGS4 lovers out there that will say otherwise.HuusAsking

Your forgetting one thing in your projected opinion of the future of the consoles and that is, that there are a good 4 to 6 million PS2 owners out there that have not moved on yet, and they love there Sony games and PS2 consoles.

Now i'm no expert but chances are when the PS2 is no longer manufactured and supported then most of them will move on to the PS3 so they can continue to enjoy the Sony series of exclusives that they didn't want to let go on the PS2, and Sony knows this.

Thats the one thing all these 360 boys forget, Sony spent the last 15 years building a fan base, but 360 owners think that they have the larger fan base today, when in fact many people are just still enjoying there PS2's and waiting for it to no longer be around or for the PS3 to drop to a more affordable price for them and once that happens, Microsoft will see the true size of Sony's install base.

Loyalty only goes so deep, and there are several PS2 franchises which haven't moved on. Where's Jak? Ape Escape? Anyway, if Sony loyalty were truly so profound, the PS3 sales would be closer to 50 million, since as you said there are only so many holdouts when PS2 sales totalled over 100 million. Since the 360 is already at the point where it's overtaking its predecessor, we have to assume it's created at least some defections, if not by producing a nice selection of games, then by the price (that's something you have to consider--you have to have both selection and price to get it right--Sony had it the last two gens...but got the price all wrong this time).

Here we go again with the whole " PRICE " thing, how did Sony get the price thing all wrong, the PS3 was one of the first blu-ray's on the market and the most affordable one at that time, not to mention the included Wi-Fi, the upgradeable hard drive, the out of the box rechargeable controller, and with it's original 60gig model-complete PS2 backwards compatibility, and free online play out of the box...all at that time for $599.00. I think it was well worth it considering the 360 still had it's $399.00 price tag plus $100.00 for Wi-Fi, plus $50.00 for Live, plus $20.00 for controller charge pack and had none of the perks listed above on PS3 and still doesn't, so you do the math.

From where i'm standing it comes to $570.00 before taxes, not much of a difference now is it, so then fast forward to today and you can still get everything listed above minus the backwards compatibility for $399.00 with an 80gb hard drive, still , in my opinion the better deal.
