[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]Well most importantly, one goes "Bling" and one goes "Bloop". RTUUMMLOL but I got to admit it, I do like the "Bling" sound trophies make Sound effects are THE most important part of achievments and trophies. I love defeating a powerful boss, and hearing the refreshing "Bloop" sound :P
I hate the concept of Platinum trophies. Every game has one or two dumb achievements that everyone hates. Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360 has an achievement where you have t beat the entire game using the same weapon. And that 5 points for each weapon - dragon sword, claws, lunar staff and some others. You have to beat the game at least 5 or 6 times before you get 1000g ("Platinum")The trophy levels are a better idea then flat out points. Getting a Platinum trophy on PS3 is much more compelling then trying to get 1000 GS on the 360 imo.

[QUOTE="PandaBear86"] I have real-life experience of non-gaming parents who buy games for their kids on the spot without thinking "I wonder if I could get a better deal off Amazon". My sister is like that when she buys games for her kids. She has a PS3, and she calls it an "Xbox" because she can't tell the difference between them. Good luck depending on her to find the best deals on games. I never said being non-tech-savvy = stupid. It just means you understand the market less. Why are you putting words in my mouth?roxlimnWell, then, we have two anecdotal evidences that are at odds. My friends are savvy about money. Your sister isn't. That's kind of your fault, isn't it? Don't you educate her or something? Is she always so ignorant about how she spends her money? Must be rich. Generally speaking, it's not hard to tell people where to locate good games for good prices. It's not materially different from shopping for the best fruits for the best price. Really. She just buys any game that her son points at when they walk into a store. She doesn't buy all the games he wants (shes not rich), just the ones he is desperate for. But the stores that she buys from are not terribly bad, but she could do better. Buying games DOES require some level of understanding. What if a small child says "mommy, I want that new Mario game!". How does the mother know which is the "new" Mario game? Is it Mario Galaxy 2? Is it Mario KArt Wii? Is it Mario PArty? Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games? She won't bother going on websites to check it, she'll just go shopping with her son, and buy the Mario game he points at.
[QUOTE="PandaBear86"][QUOTE="roxlimn"]Little Johnny down the road doesn't have any money t buy games in the first place. He'll ask his Mom to buy it for him, and you bet your bottom dollar those 40 year old soccer mom are cheapskates! They'll pinch whatever penny they possibly can, and the blogosphere (where they communicate) ensures that they are well-informed. Just because a person is not tech-savvy doesn't mean that that person is stupid. That's an unsound correlation.roxlimnMost parents don't actually surf the net for game prices. They might do it for household goods, cars, and groceries, but I doubt they have enough knowledge on games to understand how the gaming industry works. If the parents themselves are gamers, then yes they will understand better, but otherwise no. Most parents just walk into a retail store with their kids, their kids point to a box of Mario Kart and say "mommy I want this game!" Thats when the parents buy it on the spot, without searching on websites. Really? And you are basing that on what? Nothing? I have friends who actually are 40 year old soccer moms. They do not do that. Firstly, it's not money-savvy and as they're fond of saying, they're not made of money. More importantly, it'd bad parenting to indulge kids with expensive whims. There are some rich folks who'll buy their kid some $50 whatever on the spot, but most parents I know are not like that, fortunately. You got data of some sort to substantiate your claim that people over the age of 30 somehow lose 200 points of IQ? I have real-life experience of non-gaming parents who buy games for their kids on the spot without thinking "I wonder if I could get a better deal off Amazon". And I never said being non-tech-savvy = stupid. It simply means you understand the market less, and find it more difficult to find better prices on certain things.
"Nintendo is greedy" is an idiotic reason. Of course they're greedy! They're a for-profit company. They ALL are. When a company drops its prices after a few weeks, it's not for public service or for the good of gaming or any similar such nonsense. It's to maximize profits by following the equilibrium price on the supply/demand curve. This is basic economics folks. Get a book and read about it.roxlimnDifferent companies make profits and create new customers in different ways. Sony and MS make profit (ie. new customers) by reducing their game prices. Nintendo makes profit by keeping prices the same even after 3 years. At least Sony and MS have strategies that benefit themselves AND the consumer, while Nintendo does not not benefit their consumers in any way.

oh, well tahst good to know. TC= pwned
and has anyone looked on amazon.com for videogames? its the cheapest way to get them.
"If you know where to look".... in other words, its really difficult to find them at that price. That still fails, you shouldn't need to spend time searching dozens of websites and stores just to find a decent price for a game. Thats like saying "Stonehenge is a portable sundial.... as long as you have enough people to help you carry it around".
In other words, it's difficult to find them at that price? Did you even bother to click the links I so generously provided before you made that comment? Do you want me to provide all those great price comparison websites that I have bookmarked? Judging from your comment, you don't even know what price comparison websites are since you still think that a user would have to navigate numerous different retailers to find the best deals and that is, quite evidently, a fallacy.
Nope. I'm good with finding great prices. I was really happy with how cheap I got my gaming PC (spent hours researching). However, you cannot use me and you as examples of the entire Wii fanbase of 70+ million. Nintendo has loads of customers - many of them are not tech-savvy at all (which is the audience Nintendo primarily aims for). Do you think Little Johnny down the road knows all the best prices on games?[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]
[QUOTE="gamedude234"]
i agre with TP, but SMG? you can find it for €30.
gamedude234
Well, you can actually find both Super Mario Galaxy and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for approximately €30 if you know where to look.
