Does it have to?musicalmacShouldn't every console have some kind of variety? Variety in games is very important to me. I love violent games, I love non-violent games, I love games from all kinds of aspects and enjoy many genres. The Wii only caters to one area, while Sony and MS cater to all areas.
ok so like the Wii for the games it has and and enjoy the violent games the PS3/360 offer. why must the Wii follow in the footsteps of the other systems?
its trying to distinguish itself, which i like
I like how you try to make variety look like a negative thing. Tell me, if you were to eat ice cream every day, would you only eat chocolate-flavored ice cream, or would you appreciate the option of having stawberry flavor, vanilla, caramel, mango, banana, etc? Variety is NEVER a bad thing. It can only be a good thing. Even if Nintendo were to make a violent game, does this mean that Mario games would suddenly become extinct? Nope. You can play Nintendo-like games on the PS3, but not Nintendo quality games. Besides, I can play the best versions of Dragon Age, ME and F3 on my PC.

1) Sony games are not Nintendo-like in quality? Take those Nostalgia goggles off. I enjoyed LittleBig Planet more than any Mario game... I had a hard time doing that until I decided to focus beyond my nostalgia for Mario. I think the same will happen with 3D-Dot Heroes and ModNation Racers
2) I play those games on PC too, but many people here don't have good PCs for those games. Oh, and there are other great PS3/360 games that are not on PC.

If I were to state that PS3 or 360 had better games library than the Wii due to games like Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Dante's Inferno, etc, you would see Nintendo fans say things like "but we have Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc". But hang on a second, since when did Mario ever compete against Dragon Age or Fallout 3? Don't you think they are completely different games for seperate audiences? You can't replace Dragon Age with Mario Galaxy. It appears that the Wii has almost nothing to counter Dragon Age.
Now lets look at things the other way around. Does Sony have games to counter Nintendo games? Yes they do! Sony has games like ModNation Racers to compete with Mario Kart, 3D-Dot Heroes to compete against Zelda, and Little Big Planet to compete against Mario platformers, and so on. You can enjoy Nintendo-like games on a Sony console, but you can't play Sony-like games on a Nintendo console. Talk about getting the best of both worlds :)
So Wii owners, lets see what kind of games you would use to compensate for the lack of Dragon Age, Fallout 3, God of War, and others?
Sales don't mean everything. I don't see games like Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, God of War etc on Wii.No one can say that Nintendo hasn't won. They've destroyed everyone in terms of sales with the Wii and DS.

Did I mention that the DS has better games?
When I went to my local game store, most DS games were Hannah Montana, Mario, various shovelware, kids games, crappy Disney games, FF remakes etc. When I looked at the PSP section, I saw God of War, Soul Calibur, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, and various cool games. Yet the DS has better games?
