I know it sounds crazy for a multiplat game to have better graphics on consoles, but for Sims 3, I think this might be the case. Remember, the Sims 3 is targeted towards casual gamers who have little knowledge of computer hardware and try to install Sims games on their 5-year old laptops. They have no idea whats the difference between a "Geforce" and a "Radeon", they just want to play the Sims on the same crappy laptop they send emails with. This would explain why the Sims 3 has graphics similar to a PC game from 2003.

Now for the HD consoles (PS3 + 360), EA doesn't have to worry about optomising the Sims 3 for crappy laptops. They have the Cell + RSX for PS3, and Xenos + 3.2ghz tri-core CPU for Xbox 360. This is far superior than the average Sims 3 fan has, so I guess Sims 3 will have better graphics on consoles. Can't wait for screenshot comparisons of Sims 3 for consoles vs PCs :P

Your thoughts?

Thats a very bad generalization. Sims 3 has pretty good graphics and you need a decent PC to max it out with a smooth playing experience. The consoles could look better but only when compared to vanilla Sims 3 as there's plenty of mods out there to beef up the graphics of the PC version.

Just because its developed so a low end PC can play (at the worst graphics settings and poor performance) doesnt automatically mean a game doesnt have high end configurations and effects.

Some casual gamers don't know what mods are, or even bother searching the Internet for them. You'd be surprised how many PC gamers play vanilla games. In their eyes, the consoles will have better graphics

I believe mine was back in 1978 when i went across the street to a friends house on Dec 26th and they had just gotten the Atari 2600 for christmas, and when i walked into there living room and saw them playing Pac ManRPG-explorer

You can remember an event 32 years ago, to the exact day and remember what you saw etc? I can't even remember what I had for dinner last Tuesday :P My first love for consoles was with Mario on NES, back when I was about 4 years old. It was 1990, but unlike you my memory isn't that great enough to remember the exact day :)

[QUOTE="PandaBear86"]Why do people complain about Linux on a gaming machine for? Do you really need to create Excel spreadsheets on a TV with a DualShock controller? You bought your PS3 for games, not Linux. If you wanted Linux, you can install on your desktop, notebook, netbook, mobile phone, tablet PC, PDA and LOADS of other devices. I bet there are many devices in your household right now that can have Linux installed on them (maybe your microwave oven and toaster can get it too?). Leave the PS3 for games.Persistantthug

You trying to define what I'M supposed to do with MY PS3, the one that I paid $400 for 1 year ago is quite presumptuous.

Also, OTHER OS doesn't necessarily mean Linux, in case you weren't aware.

I'm not trying to define what you are supposed to do with your PS3. I am just annoyed over why Linux fans like you would complain over an unneccesary feature in a gaming console. Did you buy a PS3 do toast your bread and make coffee too?

There are several reasons why the Wii is a non-hardcore gaming machine, and its not just about the graphics: 1) Terrible online gameplay. I can't stand Friend Codes. Imagine playing Counter Strike on the Wii while using Friend Codes. 2) Poor motion control. The Wiimotes are horribly in-accurate and unresponsive when compared to PS Move.

Although it's bad that they're removing the feature, you should get angry at Geohotz for cracking the console. we'd still have the feature if he hadn't succeeded

That isn't true.

Sony had planned this WAAYY before GEOHOTZ hacked it.

Proof? SLIM came out before Geohotz.

Don't be fooled......Geohotz served only as a convenient excuse for Sony to do this.

Yes, because Geohotz is the only hacker in the world. There are no other hackers who are trying to undermine the PS3. Right.
