adidas theme

I just noticed that adidas is offering two themes at 150 points each and a single picture pack for 200 points.  The days when Run DMC appeared on MTV, every hour on the hour, have long since past.  I'm not saying that adidas aren't cool but are they cool enough to pay for?

Where are the Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars themes?  Seriously?

Mild Winter

Hello, All. I live in southwestern Michigan and we have been blessed with a very mild winter but today, the snow is falling. I just snapped this photo, while standing on my back deck. I'm sending some of this your way, Don.

Public Restroom Etiquette

A visit to a public restroom, does not present to you the opportunity to make new friends. While you are either seated or standing next to someone, in a public restroom, any attempt at making small talk is entirely inappropriate and creepy.

While in a public restroom, avoid making eye contact.  If you find that you have inadvertently made eye contact with someone, give a small nod to acknowledge the individual and then go on about your business.

Nasty Worm

So, I'm playing Lost Planet and loving it.  I've completed two of the missions and now I'm going toe to toe with the giant worm, found at the beginning of mission three.

I don't need to defeat him, in order to complete the mission but I want to.  I want the corresponding Achievement that will announce to the rest of the world, "Jonathan, is a destroyer of worms".

I've found that I either run out of thermal energy before doing him in, or I'm swallowed whole.  However, I will not quit until I've kicked worm butt.

Where Gears Disappoints.

As a whole, Gears Of War is a great game but the boss battles are a bit disappointing.  There are five boss battles in Gears, only one of which, truly shines.  Note:  I do not consider the Seeders bosses.

Boss Number One, Two And Four:  A Berserker.  You encounter this variety of Locust on three separate occasions.  I believe that the second encounter with a Berserker, is the best boss battle in the game.

Boss Number Three:  A Corpser.  It's an amazing thing to behold and at first glance you find yourself wondering just how it is that you will ever be able to defeat it.  However, the Corspser proves to be a foe that is easily beaten.  The Wretches that appear during the battle, pose a greater threat than the Corpser.

The Final Boss:  General RAAM  RAAM, is no pushover.  He's hard to kill and he's deadly.  However, as final boss battles go, this one is rather disappointing.  It does not feel grandiose or Epic and that is precisely what is needed, to properly finish off a game like Gears Of War.

My Game Of The Year, Etc.

Game Of The Year: Okami. Of the games that I have played in the past twelve months, Okami is the one that I loved the most.

The Game That I Wanted Most In 2006 But Have Yet To Purchase: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

The Game That I Knew I Would Buy But Did Not Know It Would Be As Great As It Was: Viva Piñata. Honestly, I had no idea that it would be that good.

The Game That Best Lived Up To The Hype Surrounding It: Gears Of War. I just finished Hardcore. Good stuff.

My Biggest Disappointment Of 2006: Dead Or Alive Extreme 2. I really enjoyed the first game and I do not think that it was unrealistic of me to hope that the second installment would be, at the very least, just as much fun. Sadly, it is not.

The Very Best: All of you. I've made a number of very interesting and worthwhile friends here at GameSpot. It's been a great year. Thank you, All.
